I love this book and buy all of Dan Jones’ books. I would’ve given this 5 stars, except for the fact that I ordered this and The Wars of the Roses just to find I had two different titled copies of the same exact book. There should be better labelling on Amazon. Read one or the other – you won’t be disappointed. Just don’t get caught buying both, thinking they are different books.

The book is the same book War of the Roses that I bought back in 2015. The only difference was Hollow Crown was publish in Great Britain first and then retitled War of the Roses and published in the US. I never would have bought the Hollow Crown had I known.

Audiobook The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses and the Rise of the Tudors by Dan Jones
After the initial dramatic hook in intro, I was so let down. Made it to about page 80, but couldnt finish it. In the first portion it felt as if the author was babbling on very quickly naming every single person born in that period, then cane to a screeching halt and plodding away, it ess utter dullness peppered by a few spurts of juicy gossip which lead no where. . His style is very uneven and eventually tiresome. Spent eay too much time on one king, and took forever to move on. Very disappointing. Maybe you will like it, this is just my take.

Bought the book thinking the author wrote another book on the same subject. Turns out I bought the exact book I already had but with a different title

Dan does a REALLY good job of narrative. I have spent the last two years reading all his books along with others that FINALLY is putting the twisted mess of the monarchy in England from 1066 to the death of Elizabeth I in 1608 in something that feels like order. Anyone every wonder where “Game of Thrones” came from only needs to read about the 9th through 17th century English. A fascinating read.
