The storyline is quite interesting enough. I got a bit miffed with Annana\’s character though – there\’s something annoying about a character that persistently asks stupid questions and does really stupid things, runs around screaming when something happens and acts like a petulant child. She does redeem herself with bravery and the occasional bout of intelligence though….all in all, an okay story and a very good performance. couldn\’t make up my mind whether it should have been a teen story or a young adults novel though…….. 12 people found this helpful

If you\’re irked by bad grammar don\’t grab this book. It\’s like the author was trying to attempt some sort of Huckleberry Finn effect with the dialog of only the main character, but it came off as trite and not thought out. The story itself isn\’t interesting enough to help you look past the grammar either. 8 people found this helpful

Audiobook The Assassin’s Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke
If you could sum up The Assassin\’s Curse in three words, what would they be? Light, young fantasy What did you like best about this story? It has an enchanting flow that keeps one reading despite the story line being relatively uncomplicated and the characters easy to predict What three words best describe Tania Rodrigues’s performance? Measured, slightly flat Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? No, it was one I could easily pick up and put down Any additional comments? Definitely need to be prepared to buy the second in the duology 2 people found this helpful

Audio The Assassin’s Curse narrated by Tania Rodrigues
I was really hoping for some fantasy Arabian nights and pirates story here. The world building was solid, interesting and well thought out. Yep, lots of detail on pirate life, magic, elemental spells. I loved all that. The detail put into clothing, culture is just wonderful reading. The problem with the lead character is that she was written with a classic, thoughtless romance trope- another \”I fell in love with my captor\” story. This is an overdone romance ploy that is just lazy writing.I think Cassandra Rose Clarke is capable of better writing than this. As a grown woman, I read this and thought, \”This is just unrealistic. Who\’s going buckle down with an Assassin and look dreamily into the eyes of guy hired to murder you?\” It would have been far more interesting if they just hated each other but had to work together. The narrator is great, I would listen to her again. All the characters were clear, accented and distinguishable. Sorry, there\’s no way I\’m signing on for another book in this series. You start out with lazy story lines, it only gets worse. 1 person found this helpful

The story is the beginning of a series so there’s no ending or conclusion. While I liked the strong female lead & that she is a pirate, it felt too juvenile to continue with other books. 1 person found this helpful
