“This novel offers an engaging reading experience, although introducing the element of character deaths could significantly enhance the tension. The absence of meaningful character development and their untimely demise might become problematic for both the reader and Vince. Personally, I feel a deep affection for the Orc and Dryads, and it saddens me that they lack their own character arcs throughout the story. The disappearance of the two scholars whom Vince ‘escorted’ represents a missed opportunity to introduce an additional subplot that goes beyond Vince’s own journey. Furthermore, this omission detracts from the overall quality of the novel and makes the first half even more challenging to navigate. Perhaps one or both of Vince’s parents were awaiting him in Jacksonville?
The inclusion of character arcs for the wives, alongside Vince’s Hero’s Journey, could have elevated the novel even further. The death of a specific Dryad, for instance, could have added depth and richness to the narrative. While it is commendable that the wives assume leadership roles and contribute to the future of their home, their characters lack the necessary growth and evolution that a Hero’s Journey typically provides.
As mentioned before, the author excels at building tension and releasing it, but their novels often lack the fundamental structure of the Hero’s Journey, which serves as a reliable framework for success when its turning points are followed correctly. Just like the way a leg or an arm can only bend in a specific direction.
A Character Arc is something every named character should possess. It is essentially a simplified version of the Hero’s Journey applied to an individual character. The Hero’s Journey is intertwined with the main character and begins with the protagonist holding onto a mistaken belief that eventually drives the story. For example, Vince mistakenly believes he has control over the number of wives he can have. 😅 Shortly before reaching their climax, characters typically realize a better attitude or belief that leads to a climax where they obtain what they truly need, rather than what they initially ‘wanted.’ Another example could be the wives believing that binding themselves to Vince will protect their unity. However, intimacy among themselves could decrease their dependence on Vince and strengthen the bonds within the family.
The absence of the Hero’s Journey makes the novel somewhat monotonous until the reader reaches the halfway point. The problem lies in the lack of direction, with Vince constantly reacting to his world rather than actively shaping it. Only at the midpoint does Vince start to take proactive actions instead of merely responding. It is my sincere hope that the author finds a way to focus more on this aspect.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my thoughts on Gravity. May the Goddess illuminate a path towards love, joy, and happiness in the self-determined life cycle chosen by your Higher Self.

Wild Wastes audiobook Series Wild Wastes
Randy Darren presents a refreshing story concept that emerges from familiar backdrops of apocalyptic scenarios and societal rebirth. One commendable aspect of his writing is the skillful balance he maintains among his characters, without resorting to unnecessary narrative.

Audiobook Wild Wastes by Randi Darren
While I found myself needing to skim through the sexual scenes, as I personally don’t find literary voyeurism appealing, I acknowledge its relevance within the context of this book. Despite that aspect, I still found the overall reading experience enjoyable, and I intend to continue reading the series.

Audio Wild Wastes narrated by Andrea Parsneau
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, which falls within the post-apocalyptic genre and incorporates an abundance of lewd elements involving non-human women, often referred to as “monster girls.” Surprisingly, despite the explicit content, the book features commendable world development. The main character is portrayed as exceptionally strong, although not invincible, particularly in the beginning of the story. This book, along with its sequels, is part of a vast universe created by the author. The only drawback is that for newcomers, it can be challenging to determine the recommended reading order.

Typically, I tend to avoid post-apocalyptic stories due to their grim and jarring nature, particularly when magic is introduced. However, this particular book stands out with its skillful approach. Additionally, while I do read harem stories (gasp), I prefer when the harem element doesn’t overpower the narrative. In this case, the story offers a fresh perspective that is worth exploring. Give it a try!
