The Series in ONE Sentence: Fun and Hilarious from beginning to end!

I love a nice funny book, specially one with paranormal elements and Molly Harper’s Jena Jameson series definitely gives us that and more. The Jane Jameson series is one of my favorite series ever and finding out that there will be a fourth book made my year!

Jane Jameson’s story is reminiscent of Mary Janice Davidson’s Queen Betsy, where a comedic series of errors results in a Jane turned into a vampire and trying to deal with her new situation. Add her HOT sire, Gabriel, her best friend and the ghost of her grandmother and you have a laugh out loud series that you will not want to put down.

Molly Harper’s genius is in the characters, she has build them and their relationships so well that you can’t help but give yourself over to Jane’s small town world. Let’s not forget the wit, this series has “Gilmore Girls-style” fast and witty talk that had me laughing my a** off in almost every single page.I felt for Jane’s plea and I wanted to bash her head against the wall innumerous times. She is hardheaded, paranoid and flat out annoying most of the time, but she is also fun, hilarious, loyal and extremely lovable.

Let’s not forget the secondary characters. Jane is great, but without her friends, family and her new paranormal acquaintances where would her funny quips bounce off of and who would they all make fun of?

If you are a fan of the Queen Betsy series, you absolutely have to read this one, and dare I even to say that I prefer this series over Betsy’s? There is something so fresh and comforting about reading this series, that I can’t recommend it enough!

This book is a wonderful third helping of really good reading.

Jane, our vampire heroine, continues her complicated day to day life as an undead resident in a small town. Between a boyfriend who isn’t always there, a best friend’s werewolf wife about to give birth, and her family’s acceptance of her she has her hands full.

Like the other installments of this series, it’s mostly a slice of life story that tells how it would be like to live as an undead person in normal everyday society. It’s again written brilliantly with humor, a mystery, and a bit of romance. And, similar to the books before it, this is wonderful relaxing bedtime reading.

Now for some bad news: The writer makes wonderful well rounded living (or undead), breathing (or not), characters so I’ve come to expect a lot from her. That being said she introduced a new group she calls the Courtneys. They have almost no character. From the beginning where you were supposed to just accept that a group of women, all named Courtney, would coincidentally be together, to the point where they were supposed to fulfill the shoes of those cliche “high school mean girl types”, I completely rejected this idea as plausible.

Yes, I realize I’m reading a supernatural book with vampires and werewolves, so I should suspend my disbelief, but the Courtneys just don’t fit. All the supernatural characters were well written and 3 dimensional. They had good points and bad points. They were flawed and had talents. You could imagine them existing in the environment that the book proposes. But these Courtneys were just so one dimensional and didn’t fit at all.

My second piece of bad news is the new supposed “main storyline” where Jane and her vampire boyfriend break up. I never liked him, but that’s just me. He’s just too… too… he raises too many red flags, let’s put it that way. So whenever I read about him I just re-imagine him as someone much better than he really is. And because this was one of the main arcs, i had to read about him a lot. Sigh…

I read this book for Jane. She is a wonderful, intelligent, fun character. She goes through so much but somehow manges to find her way through it, both scathed and unscathed.

5 stars. See Jane. See Jane’s life… or afterlife as the case may be.

Audiobook Nice Girls Don’t Live Forever (Jane Jameson #3) by Molly Harper

I have to admit, I loved this one, even though my annoyance level was high through most of the book. But that wasn’t Jane’s fault! Please allow me to explain… When book 2 ended, we found our intrepid vampire heroine, Jane, being offered a romantic overseas getaway with her vampire beloved, Gabriel. However, as we start book 3, we soon realize that the trip is going terribly, especially since Gabriel seems to be dashing off to constant meetings, frequently leaving Jane to her own devices, and we know that can get scary…but I digress. Gabriel is also receiving what seem to be love letters, yet he absolutely refuses to explain to Jane what’s going on. So, Jane does the only thing she can think of to do. She goes back home. Without Gabriel. At least her friends Andrea, Dick, Zeb, and Jolene are waiting for her back in Half-Moon Hollow, but if Jane thinks things will be calmer at home, she’s got quite another thing coming!

I suppose I should explain my irritation. Not at Jane, at Gabriel!! I wanted to smack him for about three quarters of this book! I was just as frustrated as Jane that anytime she would confront him about the suspicious notes, he usually ran away. Literally, ran away. Poor Gabriel. So smooth, so handsome, so clueless when it comes to women! No worries, though. Gabriel’s behavior makes sense when you get the whole story, but up until then, be prepared to want a scene where Dick and Jolene hold him down while Jane kicks him. Seriously. But, I love Gabriel and Jane as a couple, and of course would follow them anywhere, plus they can get past a bit of drama, right? Well, at least until said drama starts threatening Jane’s life. Other fun for Jane includes Mr. Wainwright’s simpering nephew Emery, returned to claim some of his uncle’s things, but generally getting underfoot as they try to renovate the bookstore and prepare for the grand re-opening, and more drama (of the good kind) with Zeb and Jolene. Also, Jane joins the Chamber of Commerce, not realizing it’s like a cult of robo-blondes time warped from high school, bent on causing Jane as much misery as possible. Jane comes into her own quite a lot in this one, however, and I also loved how the author really explored the relationships between Jane and her friends, and also her family, which sets up Book 4 rather nicely. I’ll hang with Jane and the gang in Half-Moon Hollow, and hope to be able to visit time and time again! Love this series!

Audio Nice Girls Don’t Live Forever (Jane Jameson #3) narrated by Amanda Ronconi

Nice easy read, i love the way Jane’s mind is portrayed. I love all the half moon hollow series.
There is something lovable about a vampire with superhuman strength who ends up losing all her fights but just keeps getting into trouble.
