A Secret for a Secret (All In #3)

This has turned into one of my favorite series by Helena. A Secret for A Secret is a great addition to the All In Series, its full of humor and is such a heartwarming story. But dont let that fool you, it is STEAMY, and King will have you swooning over him in a heartbeat. Helena absolutely nailed this story, and I loved that Queenie brought out a different side of King, but that he also brought out a different side of her. They were the perfect coupling and the true definition of opposites attract. I will also say, I LOVED that we got to catch up with Rook and Lainey, and Stevie and Bishop, as well as Violet and Alex. I think thats what I love the most about all of Helenas books and this one too, we get to catch up with past characters, and they truly play an integral role in current books. Im ready for more Helena in 2020!

A Secret for a Secret is the third book in the All In series. Helena Hunting has become well-known in the Rom-Com genre and rightfully so. You can always count on good humor to go along with a great story!

Ryan “King” Kingston plays for the NHL’s Seattle team and to put it mildly, he’s got a crazy family. He’s just learned some life altering news, so he does what he rarely does and heads to a bar to have some drinks. What he doesn’t anticipate is taking a woman home with him and even beyond that, he doesn’t ever expect to see her again. But you know how that goes…

Queenie Masterson is trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. She’s just recently lost her job and decided to move closer to her father, Jake, who is the GM of the Seattle NHL team. She ends up becoming his assistant and while she’s good at her job, it seems that chaos tends to follow her.

When King and Queenie realize that they were each other’s one-night stand from weeks before things become complicated. They have chemistry like no other, but because they are both affiliated with the team, and Queenie promised her dad that she wouldn’t date players, things hit a dead end before they can reconnect. Will that stop them though?

King is amazing. He’s quirky, but I loved that about him. He is so down to earth, caring, considerate and he’s definitely a rule follower. The way he treats Queenie and stands by her, defends her and loves her is awesome. Queenie is short on self esteem and rightfully so based on things that have gone on in her life. I enjoyed seeing her grow as the book went on when she was surrounded by the right people.

Another aspect that I loved is that we got to see people from previous books, including Alex and Violet, which is always wonderful. This was highly entertaining and I look forward to what Helena Hunting has to offer us next!

Kingston and Queenie are perfect together – and pure Romcom royalty!

Kingston is the last of the good guys – good looking, successful, treats people right, follows the rules – but when he gets some pretty shocking news he is out to go on a bender. Enter Queenie – she is sweet and a bit wild and trying to find her place in the world…just what a guy like King needs.

After they part King resigns himself to never seeing her again – but fate has other plans….and of course she turns out to be the one girl who is strictly off limits.

Their story becomes a slow burn of sweet moments and hot tension – until the heat between them is too much to deny.

Along the way there are some wonderful side characters – some who I hope get there own stories and some who you will love to hate.

Helena Hunting books are always something I look forward to and this one did not disappoint

Theres no real conflict, either between the couple or even in the world around them. As in there IS conflict, but it is resolved very quickly and simply.
For as straight laced and proper as Kingston was presented in the 2nd book in this series, I really thought Queenie would shake up his life and his feelings a lot more. I didnt feel like there was enough tension/challenge to their love story and perhaps that may not have been the intention at all, but I think it would have been a more interesting story to see both the H/h spar with each other a bit considering they have such different personalities.
Queenie probably isnt as chaotic as she is made to seem either. yes there are mistakes from her past but theyre not so terrible that they cant be overcome.
This was still a sweet story, but not something I couldnt put down.

This was simply beautiful. I can confidently say it was the best out of the series so far.

While there is nothing extraordinary about it, everything just fit together so peacefully. King and Queenie call each other the calm and the chaos respectively, and I find that description so beautifully fitting.

They are truly good for each other in an opposites attract kind of way, but it goes way beyond that as well. Usually opposites attract but they also burn through the novelty and excitement of it all pretty quickly. I loved that their differences were discussed in a way that didnt gloss over them by preaching the whole love will conquer it all mantra. They discuss their differences, plan on how to deal and accept them while respecting each others needs and wants.

The way anyone would describe King would probably be perfect. They wouldnt be wrong, except, no one is perfect. He needed passion and healthy recklessness in his life and Queenie needed stability, support and understanding. To be honest Ive never read of a more balanced couple.

Reading this made me feel good, peaceful even. I realised that the writer reached a good balance where this was able to be a safe, sweet story that did not fall in the trap of being boring in the slightest.

Apart from the story itself I loved reading about the other characters and their kids, especially Violets twins, one of whom will develop a sweet relationship with Queenie. I also liked reading the conversations about anxiety in children and ways of dealing and helping through art.

This book was exactly what I needed at the moment and it was a great addition to the series. King, is the kind of hero we can say we love and want without adding but not in real life at the end.
