Just no. Idk what happened to this author, but this book is boring. You can feel that this book was slapped together with no love. The characters didnt make sense. The twist is lame and I figured it out half way through the book. The connection with H/h is dull at best. I have read every single book by her and this one is the worst. This isnt even a Mafia book. The H is not recognized as the Dons son until the last couple of chapters. He doesnt even do anything remotely close to Mafia related. This book drags on forever and not to mention March repeats herself over and over again, which is totally not like her.

After some deliberation, I can sadly only give this book 3.5 stars. I was quite excited about the conclusion of the Dirty Mafia Duet and after the cliffhanger Black Sheep ended on, the beginning of this book felt rather anticlimactic. I think I will have to go back to the practice of waiting until all books in a duet/trilogy are out by this author.
Its not that I didnt like the book, I really (mostly) love Cannon Freeman and I am very glad he finally got his reconciliation with Creighton Karas. There were some interesting twists and turns that kept the plot moving forward, although some of those seemed to be a little bit deus ex machina, not the least of which was Doms change of heart (or really it seemed more like a personality transplant), where he changed from a feared (albeit respected) mob boss into a benign patriarch, stepping aside, letting Cannon take the reins.
I also mostly like the chemistry and dynamic between the two main protagonists, except for how Memphis treated Cannon after he so magnanimously forgave her deception. She was very contrite and swore to him that she would let the case she has been obsessed with go for his sake; for about all of five minutes, after which she did a complete turnaround and insisted she could never let it go
Overall, I felt that all in all this Duet lacked the narrative coherence, the sustained intensity and the sheer grittyness of some of Meghan Marchs earlier books, like the Beneath series or the Mount Trilogy (which remains my favorite). Especially (but not only) the ending was nauseatingly perfect and smooth (not to say cloyingly sweet) without any of the rough edges or real conflict that would have made it more real and less Hallmark.

Audiobook White Knight (Dirty Mafia Duet #2) by Meghan March
I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book!!! I love how Meghan Marchs mind works. She is the master at writing an intriguing story with twists and turns you dont see coming.
White Knight is the conclusion to the Dirty Mafia duet. It is the second book and answers all the questions a reader might have after reading Black Sheep (Book 1). As with any of Meghans books I cant and wont talk about the storyline of this book. There is no way to talk about it without spoiling for other readers.
Here is what I can tell you about White Knight. It is the final book in this duet and is told in Dual POV. It is again, another romance book filled with suspense, drama, love and swoon worthy moments. If you fell in love with Cannon in Black Sheep, you will love him even more after reading White Knight!! The pace and flow of this story was perfect. And the twists and turns are mind blowing!!! This book does start right where that brutal cliffhanger left us in Black Sheep.
I never feel like I can do a Meghan March book justice with my reviews. I could literally ramble on and on about any book I have read by her, but I am always afraid of leaking a spoiler. So just know this.you will want to read the Dirty Mafia Duet!! If this isnt on your TBR list, make sure you add it NOW!!
I also loved seeing so many other characters from her other series in this Duet. But dont worry you dont have to read any other books to fully enjoy this story.

Audio White Knight (Dirty Mafia Duet #2) narrated by Andi Arndt Sebastian York
Overall Grade:
You belong with me, and youre staying with me. Were a team, and we handle everything together. Got it? I never thought Id say those words. Never thought Id ever find someone who would understand my life, who could survive it along with me. With her beside me, I feel stronger than ever.
Meghan March was a writer whom I read early on in my romance exploration. A small group for me, I read most of her booklist in a very short period of time. The Dirty Billionaire Trilogy was the first of it, and I was hooked. Like Creighton Karas, I too felt betrayed by Cannon, Creightons right-hand man. I hated that he had worked with Creightons biological father to gain access to Creightons life. I didnt think twice about a series for Cannon. Until I read Black Sheep and White Knight, Meghan Marchs Dirty Mafia duet. These two books gave me insight into Cannons life, and boy, did I feel guilty for ever thinking poorly of the character.
Marchs second book in the duet, White Knight, is her current release. It takes up with a flashback of Cannons life as March is reminding us of the loss in his life. That loss is necessary to understanding current day Cannon, a man who uses his intelligence and wits in encountering danger. Through the trial by fire of his life, hes been forged to withstand the onslaught of bad luck. And he illustrates this beautifully in this book. He is the white knight. He saves his family from danger even when he carries the scars of the wounds wrought on him by his father. This is what I loved most about him. Even when hes snubbed by his father (and Creighton), even when Memphis is put into danger, Cannons strength shines through, making him the worthy hero of this story.
Similar to Cannon is Memphis, the heroine of this duet. She is strength personified, and her strength stokes the fires of Cannons heroism. Her story diverges from the one in Black Sheep. More is revealed of her past, and its shocking. Yet, in the midst of it all, she remains stoic, steadfast, and perceptive. She and Cannon are two halves of a whole, and I think there is more angst from outside influences in this story than there is angst between the two of them. I think its why I loved this book even more than Black Sheep. I didnt feel the worry over Memphis and Cannon. I knew they would make it out to their happy ending. Therefore, I could enjoy the building and resolution of the story.
What I think is most profound about White Knight beyond Cannons journey is its feel. When I finished White Knight, my first thoughts were this is Meghan Marchs love letter to her readers. Its an ode to the characters shes crafted over the years. Characters from stories past are here, and a few of them find resolution in the midst of Cannons story. And I loved it. As characters from the Dirty Billionaire trilogy, Dirty Girl Duet, Real Duet, and Beneath the Truth series danced across the page, my heart leaped. It felt like a coming home week in the March universe, and it was dazzling. If youve been a long-time reader of hers, then you mustMUST read this duet.
As we move into a new trilogy from Meghan March, you cant help but stand in awe of her as a writer. She weaves her stories together into a world that is all her own. I am thankful for Cannon and Memphiss part in Marchs world because its a reminder that all is never what it seems. Cannons past necessitated the choices of his future, and he does it sacrificially with so much love in his heart. Its an indication to us all that love really can transcend the unthinkable.

I wasn’t enamoured of the first book but this was so much better and an enjoyable read.
MM writes great heroes and it was good to get more of Cannon’s POV in this half: maybe that’s why it was better than part 1? He isn’t your usual sexy non-MM hero who only thinks about sex; this guy has real problems, real choices to make, is smart enough to find solutions aside from Hulk-smashing his way through things, and still has a sweet side. Nice job, MM.
Also in this half the story picked up and I didn’t feel like I was still waiting. Hurrah! However -without wanting to spoil anything – something happened out of nowhere toward the end and consequently I didn’t really care about it, it felt like it was just thrown into the mix because it’s standard mafia story trope (expect better from MM really). It had no real impact on the plot, or their feelings for each other, or anything that happened next. Even the characters didn’t really seem to care about it so not sure why it was in there. (As an aside, Memphis must never ever have heard a word of Italian before for it to mean anything when the story conveniently points out that she somehow understood some at that moment. Too ridiculous, sorry.)
And that leads me on to Drew/Memphis. The story seemed to happen around her and she did very little again, except serve as Cannon’s inspiration to be a better man. Her supposed investigative skills once again did not come to the fore and it was the men around her who literally gave her answers or came up with solutions. And the master of disguise thing was so stupid as literally everyone seemed to recognise her at every point. She was better in this half but, tbh, that’s not saying much.
But, overall, the book got better. There was a surprise in there which I didn’t see coming (again, nice job) and I was satisfied by the end, although I might have liked to see that “talk” between Cannon and Creighton as it was such a long-awaited moment.
Cannon was by far the best part of this duet: MM really does do well with her male characters. However at 10 for the full duet, I need the whole package and I don’t think I got it here. The good news is, when MM is on form I know she can provide it.
