I have spent countless hour of my life happily reading my way through Grace Burrowes oeuvre. Her stories are often wry, thoughtful, and nuanced. She has also created some wickedly sexy characters over the years.

Sadly, this book was a big miss for me. Nathaniel, our hero, has no backbone and allows the heroines reputation to be eviscerated while he stands by presumably helpless. Our heroine, Althea, however is brave and stalwart.

I appreciated the updates on the rest of the Wentworth family (I should like to be adopted, please!).
I hope well get a book about Stephan. Im looking forward to reading his story.

Although this was just an extended preview I can tell that Grace Burrowes is up to her usual excellent style of writing and I’m anxious to read the rest of this story. Ms Burrowes inserts so much description into this book you feel like you are watching this live “He vaulted one handed over the fence.” *swoon* my kind of hero. With witty banter and lightning like exchanges “Rothhaven, I employ a butler and a night porter. Have you a reason for eschewing the front door?”(OK full disclosure, I love language and she is one brilliant writer) you can’t wait to turn the page for the next meeting of the two protagonists.

Our heroine is looking for guidance to be accepted in her new neighborhood with the local gentry as she’d been mocked on her previous foray into society. She implores our hero;who for some reason feels he needs to stay isolated in his manor home, to help her be accepted so she might find a husband and have the family she’s always wanted. Yes, I need to find out why he is hiding or who he is hiding from, I’m that much invested in the story already.

This is the 4th book in the series Rogues to Riches and I would suggest reading the first book ,My One and Only Duke if nothing else, the back story of our heroine, Althea , is often refereed to and would help the reader to have a clearer understanding of her full story, plus it’s a great book one of my favorites of hers.

Since I’ve now pre-ordered the book I can’t help but recommend it to all Romance History lovers. April 28 can’t get here fast enough for this reviewer.

I was given an extended preview to read from Netgally for an honest review, good or bad. That said I am thoroughly enjoying the full book right now, bliss.

Audiobook A Duke by Any Other Name by Grace Burrowes

Althea Wentworth is the sister of a Duke, but her impoverished background has left her with a lack of confidence in society. She turns to neighbor Nathaniel, Duke of Rothhaven, hoping he might be able to help her navigate the stormy waters of the Ton. However, Nathaniel is a recluse who never ventures out or entertains. Althea wiggles her way in, and in the process, discovers some secrets.
I love Ms. Burrowes books, and Nathaniel and Althea are a lovely couple, perfect for each other. I also admit that I loved the Yorkshire setting; the descriptions are so good with the variable weather and gorgeous countryside. I found the plot a little weak; I couldn’t buy either Nathaniel’s or Althea’s motives/problems, but then it really didn’t matter because the story was so interesting. Robbie, Nathaniel’s brother is a compelling character and I think he’s the hero in the next book in the very good series.

Audio A Duke by Any Other Name narrated by James Langton

I love regency romances! Ive read all of this authors books and liked most of them, even loved some. This book had an intriguing premise – debutante bordering on spinster connects with reclusive duke. The heroine, Althea, was mildly compelling – plain and a bit graceless but tough and loyal. The hero, Nathaniel, was also mildly compelling – handsome, aristocratic, and loyal but extremely reserved. They had little chemistry and no sizzle. The story started out interesting but droned on as the book went on, and the characters didnt develop much until their epiphany at the end. It had a dark and heavy overtone, as many of this authors books have had recently. Overall, not a bad book but never really caught my fancy.

Grace Burrowes has gifted me with another delight. This story is packed full of love. The story is believable and in a pace throughout that has kept me reading with little pause. I just wanted the full bloom of happiness to unfurl. I loved the characters, many friend and family from the prior books in the series that I dearly love. I also impatiently await the next romance coming out later in 2020. The best, gifted, kind author I could recommend. I hope you find Grace Burrowes, I did and I’ve been reading every book since the first. This is pure Joy.
