A King’s Commander audiobook free
Lambdin’s Alan Lewrie books are great reads. Action packed, a little bawdy, historical and geographical descriptions, and good wit. I intend to read everyone of them.
Another adventure worth reading in the series. If you want a human hero with as many failings as his superior ability and intellect then Alan Lewrie is the character I’d recommend. This book begins to unleash a superstitious element to the tales but, like all the other oddities and particulars Lambdin bravely trots out for our historical education as well as reading pleasure, I find it refreshing and out of the ordinary. This is entertainment that is worth my time and I find enjoyable. I highly recommend the entire series and hope Mr. Lambdin continues the story for a long time to come.

A King’s Commander audiobook in series Alan Lewrie
I have read all in the series up to this book. The story line is becoming repetitive and predictable. Also in this book the conversations with Pheobe are becoming very tedious and it is difficult to remained focused while reading these conversations. I find myself skipping over these conversations. It got to the point that I quit reading this book and went to a different author. I am finding that the only good ebooks are the ones that are as expensive as buying a new paperback.

Audiobook A King’s Commander by Richard Stark
As a fan of all the naval history series out there, the Lewrie novels are consistently entertaining. If you like the genre and are working trough all the series Lambdin’s books are not on the level of Aubrey, Hornblower or Bolitho but are a close second tier — closer to the Ramage series. If you need high off color behavior with your high adventures, you’ll really like these books.
Well…close to awesome. After reading the Patrick O’Brian series, twice, there was nowhere to go. So, I started this series. Dewey is pretty good. If you don’t expect O’Brian, these books are great. Ts just a different style. They are fun, interesting to read. I especially liked the series of paragraphs describing the main character’s wife. Not sure that’s in this book.

Audio A King’s Commander narrated by John Chancer
Lewrie is an interesting character, flawed but redeemable. Not as developed as an Aubrey or Maturin but deeper than Hornblower or Bolitho. A mariner who sails close to the wind and gets into and out of situations by the seat of his pants. I’m reading the complete series and I’m going to have a void when I get to the end.

I must have been an age of sail sailor, as these books and the Aubrey/Maturin and Hornblower seem to hold me spellbound.
Patrick O’Brian’s books are more beautifully described, but Lambdin offers much in the way of Captain Lewrie’s thoughts; so different from Jack Aubrey’s.
If you enjoy age of sail, ships, man, and war at sea the entire Lewrie series might hold your interest. I found it to be a great cruise and was sad to see it end. There is always another read thru during the winter months possibly.
