How surprised I was, reading my first book by Francine Rivers. I didnt expect a book about faith in Jesus Christ. A book about early Christianity. I followed all the characters easily and almost felt like I was hovering overhead watching what was unfolding. I read the book along with the narrative. I love how he read it, but I did speed it up to 1.25 as the book got more and more exciting, I couldnt wait to get to the next chapter to see what would happen next. I really enjoyed this book and right now Im going to start the next in the series!

A Voice in the Wind audiobook in series Mark of the Lion
I recommend this book to anyone who is learning how to serve the Lord. The premise is that this girl Hadassah is one of the first generations of Jewish “Believers” in Jesus as Messiah. Her home is ransacked by the Romans and she is enslaved. While enslaved, her handsome but unhappy Roman master gleans from the way she serves with love and honor and grace and is drawn to her as well as the Light in her. I love this book. Tastefully told, yet so realistic and doesn’t shy away from darkness, but shines the light of the Lord on it. A powerful comparison of the corruption of Rome by hedonism, with a parallel to the world we dwell in now. Romance, fights, action, drama…all wrapped into one!

Audiobook A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers
My wife reads many historical fantasy novels and authors. We have met quite a few of them at signings and national events. I am merely her official photographer and book obtainer, so I really dont know anything about what I have ordered and she has read. I have had to build extra shelves in our home to accommodate the vast library she has acquired and read. One shelf is about to break from the many hard backs she has stacked on it. I foresee our den being compared to Lord Granthams Library eventually. Rolling Ladders and high back chairs with a butler just through the next door.
She only reads books from her favorite authors and favorites from her reading group at work. So, if I have composed a review for a book on amazon like this one, I can assure you she has read it and enjoyed it and heavily discussed it with her group of co-workers.
Consider this a recommendation by my wife for an excellent and enjoyable read.

Audio A Voice in the Wind narrated by Richard Ferrone
Francine is one of my favorite authors. She has the ability to draw me and make me feel like I am IN the story.
This book, in particular, is my very favorite. Such a deep, thought provoking story that leaves you breathless (literally). It is NOT recommended that you finish this book without the second one readily available.
A classic book I will read again and again for the rest of my life!

I sensed a faint presence of an all-knowing, all-present God in the midst of the multi-faced evils of the great deceiver. It was a-bit draining to spend much of this first episode with Julia (and her selfish-loves), Marcus, their parents, and Attretus, all ‘faithful’ followers of other gods. So much time and story line was spent on these characters that I wondered if Haddasah would ever have support in her faith. The climax left me wondering, ‘Is this the end of the faithful servant Haddasah!’ I guess I’ll have to find out in the sequel.
