Absolutely absorbing! You must read this book. Fascinating account of death by someone with enormous experience in this field. I dont wish to repeat the previous review, but I totally agree. The author has the ability to avoid too much technical detail, has a great sense of humour and makes an often awkward subject approachable and personal. You will not be disappointed.

Disappointed because I expected science, not an author waxing poetic about her thoughts, beliefs, and life experiences. This has too much feels and associated filler, because IMHO, its an autobiography/memoir w free-floating blather about meditation and/or various philosophical ramblings. It took me a long time to finish this book.

The audiobook is no better than the Kindle version. In many ways, it was worse, because the blathering is more annoying when narrated.

When reading this review, please keep in mind that I was expecting to read about forensic sciences, and Im amongst the minority of reviewers.

Audiobook All That Remains: A Life in Death by Sue Black

Black’s memoir is fascinating and enthralling. I couldn’t stop reading and it got me thinking in new ways about dying, death and what happens when someone is gone. I have a newfound respect for death in all her shapes and forms, and am a little more comfortable with my own mortality.

Review #4

Audio All That Remains: A Life in Death narrated by Angela Dawe

It is an autobiography of a British woman who has an interesting career, not directly related to day-to-day solving of crimes, but still very fascinating. She gives you a lot to think about in terms of how doctors are trained in anatomy, the processes that happen after death and much more. She describes “mucking about” in some very unappealing death scenes but she makes it all a part of job, difficult but necessary.

The information and writing from Dr. Black was absolutely amazing. Her descriptions of all the cases along with her humanity was fascinating. I would give 5 stars had the narrator been a Scot. I craved that lovely accent over Ms. Dawe’s flat midwestern voice . No slam on her ability to read, it was just missing something not having a Scot read Dr. Black’s words.
