Dark Force Rising is the second installment in The Thrawn Trilogy. The book is a science fiction fantasy that most of the followers of Star Wars already knows about. The writer of this amazing novel and the series is Timothy Zahn. A couple of his extraordinary books include Star Wars: Thrawn Ascendancy and Thrawn (Star Wars).
The audio performance in this novel is given by Marc Thompson. The performance by Thompson was outstanding and you will not be bored even for a minute of its narration.

The Grand Admiral Thrawn is the most ruthless and cunning warlord of the dying Empire. He has taken over the commands of the Imperial fleet which resulted in launching a huge campaign targeted at the destruction of the New Republic. Thrawn plans well in turning the tide of the battle along with the support of mindboggling weapons that were hidden by the Emperor on a backwater planet. He also wanted to completely overpower the New Republic and then levy his iron rule throughout the galaxy.
Lando and Han in the meanwhile race against time to get hold of the evidence of treason that was inside the Republican Council of the highest level. But, they only managed to discover a ghostly fleet of warships. This had the potential to bring doom to their allies and resulting in the victor of their enemies. The most dangerous of all is a new Dark Jedi. He has risen from the ruins of a cloaked past and was consumed by bitterness.
This second installment is worth the wait as you will be blown away by the incredible story it has. The plot is amazing and so are the characters.
