While this isnt the most practical book Ive read, I appreciate Sallys wisdom and own experiences. Having listened to her podcast and read several of her books, many of the ideas she shares in this book were familiar to me; shes discusses them a lot in other resources.

Also, many of these ideas might be difficult to implement if you have teenagers just because your family culture is pretty much established by then. I would definitely recommend this book to a mom of younger children who is reading Sally Clarkson for the first time. This really lays out her philosophy of education and her approach to raising her children to know and love the Lord.

Its a great book for vision casting, and as a mom to young children myself, I benefited from being reminded of my purpose as a mother as well as the purpose of their childhood.

I love so much about the Clarkson philosophy! The richness of thought and discussion, the engagement in faith and truth, the imagination and creativity that the rituals of their home and school are bound in all inspire me so greatly!!

I felt like the first half was a bit redundant. While really important words were shared they just seemed to be said several times over in the first half. The second half seems to be driven more towards the practical applications and my brain functions best with those perimeters.

All in all the message is SO GOOD and super timely!!!

But the content wasnt quite as practical or biographical as advertised. Its a good starting point for homeschooling or mentorship!

I cannot wait for other parents to read this book. It is encouraging and helpful in a way that will open your eyes to bringing the joy of life and faith to your children . Reminds me of the why behind what we have chosen for our children and our family life: a slower pace, fewer activities, more free time, intentional choices of books and conversation to tie heart strings amongst us.

I am one of those moms changing up a few of our fall school plans due to covid; not out of fear but out of the beauty I saw in my home and in one child in particular. I call myself a covid-transfer!

I had the privilege of reading Awaking Wonder by Sally Clarkson this summer, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Even though I am not fully homeschooling, I found Sally’s book insightful, intelligent, and encouraging. She gives the reader both macro and micro ideas, painting broad strokes and adding beautifully detailed examples of how her ideals played out (quite literally) in her family. I found myself smiling while reading, excited to springboard with imagination into a new world of planning and establishing new routines and rhythms.

Sally gives excellent nuggets for further reading sprinkled throughout the book, resources to dig down and deep, just like her educational philosophy encourages. She practices what she preaches, using her wisdom and experience to gently guide the reader to see education as a beautiful aspect of life. This book will encourage you to break away from compartmentalizing learning, no matter where your children attend school, and seek God and his creativity in His surrounding world of wonder!
