Wow! I missed the release of this title for a few days and then discovered that is was available last night a little after midnight. I told myself I\’d JUST read the first chapter or so, and then be responsible and go to bed since I had to work in the morning. Yeah, that so did not happen. At 3:30 I forcefully had to power down the Kindle and then just finished it during my lunch break. Absolutely my favorite Logan Jacobs series and this is one of the best installments to date. Great plotting, excellent character development and the harem officially expands. Why are you still reading this review? Get EJ 4 now!

I should probably start with, I really do like the series; it\’s very well-written with a lot of good ideas and I really want to read more. Buuuuut, I\’m conflicted. You see, it reads very much like a DC-universe alternate-history fanfic. There are very, very clear parallels with JLA characters; \”Shadow Knight\” is a clear reference to Batman, cast as already on-edge due to his obsessive rivalry with \”The Maniac\”, who is barely changed at all from The Joker\’s MO, and this Shadow is easily driven into pure insanity by the protagonist\’s manipulation and finally killed by the protagonist. \”Optimo\” is very like a fame-addicted, entitled Superman who serves as a more distant target. \”Dynamo\”, the protagonist\’s best ally and primary love interest, strikes me as very similar to Wonder Woman other than lacking flight or any type of magic. Probably the most disturbing parallel of all is that Miles Nelson, the dark-hero protagonist, bears an incredible resemblance to Lex Luthor, complete with Norma, a Mercy-like omni-talented henchwoman (who is one of the most endearing and well-developed characters in the entire plot, and who stands out as the most unique and different from anything else in superhero literature despite paralleling Mercy Graves.) Bottom line, it IS an interesting twist on the JLA universe, and I\’d have purely loved to read it presented AS an alternate-history fanfic on DeviantArt or something. But actually sold as an original work, well, this is hard for me. I want more! But!…

Audiobook Becoming the Apex Supervillain (Evil Genius #4) by Logan Jacobs
Great story, good characters an exciting future. There did seem to be a few times where the same information was given to the audience and main character twice as if it was new. Which made it feel like the main character had short term memory loss and detracted from his genius. But thats just a personal nitpick. It was an amazing addition to the series and I am excited to purchase the next.

Audio Becoming the Apex Supervillain (Evil Genius #4) narrated by Alex Perone Christopher Boucher Jessica Threet Marissa Parness
Some mildly disturbing parts, not really into robot sex, but whatever. And could use a bit more tactical analysis. Too much is simple fighting, no real planning despite the fact that the author keeps talking about planning. There are some gaps, but overall engaging storyline and characters.

I had been waiting for the Audible edition to go with the kindle edition. Finished a book and #4 just said, start me. I really enjoy the series and look forward to #5. Really liked the prep, and fights between EG, his team, and SK comics imagery. Definitely recommend the series.
