I was introduced to the Blackdagger Brotherhood about ten years ago. I can’t believe it has been that long. I was hooked from Dark Lover and as the series progressed I was just dragged into it deeper and deeper and enjoyed every second of the roller coaster ride. Then the series seem to hit a brick wall. I started noticing a decline it the character development and main story line. The romance seemed superficial and with each new book I wondered if I would continue. But continue I did. I saw new life in The King, I skipped the Shadows but decided to give Blood Kiss a try. I enjoyed this book. I loved seeing my old friends in the brotherhood. It was nice to see they didn’t change and they were still going strong. I thought Paradise was a strong female. I liked her spunk, and who doesn’t love Craeg. Just his physical description made me weak in the knees. The fact that he had honor and a natural leader—just the better. And while the book was over 400 pages I felt that somewhere along the lines it got rushed. I don’t want to post any spoilers but the story builds nicely at a strong and steady pace and then at 91% on my kindle we have everything comes to an end without really telling us how. They there is a nice little happily ever after—which I am all for but it was a BANG ZOOM. Anyway, I am glad to see the brothers making a comeback and I am hoping that The Beast is all I want it to be and more.

4.5 stars!
Blood Kiss was a seriously awesome way to kick off a new series in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world. The first book in the Black Dagger Legacy series was an exciting read with new, fantastic characters and I absolutely loved it!
Paradise and Craeg were wonderful. She was so sweet and naive in the beginning but I loved seeing her grow and really fight for what she wanted and become this force to be reckoned with. Craeg was fantastic, so strong and determined, I really liked his character development, understanding his drive and where he came from. I loved Craeg and Paradises attraction as they go through their training and how it built. It was sweet and stressful, tense and emotional, and super sexy!
I really liked this new group of characters that have been introduced. I love seeing these new, younger vampires and learning what theyre fighting for. I like the pairings that were hinted at and I’m excited for what’s to come. I loved seeing old favorites as well from the original series and I really liked the secondary story about Butch and Marissa and where they were at in life. I loved them since they got together in Lover Revealed. There was also a small but exciting who-done-it element mixed in that I really enjoyed.
This was such a great introduction to the new series, it parallels well with the overall world. Its the same great world but it’s a somewhat different perspective so it all seems fresh and inviting. It has a slightly different feel, a little bit lighter, but I was just as pulled in and invested. There is a great build to everything, a lot of drama, emotion, and heat. If you haven’t read any Black Dagger Brotherhood books, no worries. J. R. Ward does a great job explaining everything so you wont feel lost. That being said, I would highly recommend reading the BDB books because there is so much history, it just made this intro to the new series that much better for me.

Audiobook Blood Kiss (Black Dagger Legacy #1) by J. R. Ward
I really enjoyed the light reading after all the heaviness of The Shadows, this book was truly refreshing. Romantic, funny, with a lot of action and hotnesss. The perfectionist in me didn’t enjoy the typos and lack of question marks, though. But that’s just me being picky. I had a few concerns with the storyline, like in Chapter 13, when Butch says he and Marissa dematerialize into his mother’s nursing home to visit her. I mean, since when does Butch dematerialize?? Also the fact that the shellans were watching Magic Mike XXL when that movie hadn’t been released in their timeline yet.
Despite all that I loved to see the Brothers as teachers. Being a teacher myself and dealing with teenagers daily I have one or two students that I really wish I could respond to like Tohr does! >D Anyway, I give this book 4 stars because, after all, I love BDB and I’m willing to overlook certain flaws just for the fun of reading about these brothers. <3

Audio Blood Kiss (Black Dagger Legacy #1) narrated by Jim Frangione
Like most of the other reviewers, I had stopped reading this series after the author boarded the crazy train. Apparently she has listened to her publisher or read the rash of negative reviews that were becoming all too common with her latest books in the BDB series. I think I read 50 pages of The Shadows before giving up. The good news is SHES BACK! This story is character and relationship centric, and we get to see plenty of the original brothers. This is the first book in a long while that got me excited about the series again! Great job J R Ward!

I’ve stuck with the BDB from the first book to this so far and I’m about to start on “the thief”
I have to be honest, the original series was getting incredibly boring, repetitive and I actually couldn’t bring myself to finish the last book first time, I took a 6 month gap from it I just couldn’t get into what felt like the same story over and over. Depressed partner, small amount of fighting. BUT this story for the first time in a while really had me hooked! Proper action, better character plot. I loved it! I’m just disappointed I have to go back to the normal series and I’m hoping the whole sola story is better than its started out because that couple are super boring. I much prefer paradise and craegs love affair even after only one shorter book.
