Elise is secretly trying to achieve her dream of being a psychologist to help her ravaged race. As the blooded daughter of the Princeps Felixe the Younger, she is bound by the suffocating rules of the glymera and they believe that females have little need for intelligence. She knows the risks of stealing out of the family mansion to attend university but shes far too close to her goal to just give up.

Her father agrees to allow her to continue with her studies on one condition she goes with a bodyguard. And that bodyguard just happens to be the very male that now haunts her dreams.

Axewell, son of Theirsh, is intimately acquainted with pain. Like many others, Axe lost everything during the raids and its the main reason that he became a recruit at the training center.

Fighting alongside of the Brotherhood gives him a freedom that even kink and drugs could not provide until he met Elise.

Elise deserves so much better than a complete failure with no status and no family. But he can protect her from danger and he doesnt care if he has to sacrifice his own life to do it.

Rhage and Mary have never been so happy. Now with Bitty as their daughter, their lives are now complete. Giving their young everything that she could ever want and replacing all the memories of her horrific past with ones of love is a blessing beyond anything that they ever thought that they would have.

But their happiness is shattered when someone from Bittys bloodline steps forward. Now faced with the prospect of letting her go, they must decide if their love is strong enough to endure a pain that promises to be far greater than anything that they have ever weathered before.

Blood Vow is nothing short of extraordinary! J.R. Ward has once again created a world that I simply wanted to immerse myself in and never leave. Each storyline grabbed me right by the heart and held on without any mercy. I laughed at Lassiter, cried with Mary and fell completely in love right along with Elise.

The Black Dagger Legacy is proving to be so much more than just another spin off series its now a juggernaut all its own

Audiobook Blood Vow (Black Dagger Legacy #2) by J. R. Ward

This is the second book of The Black Dagger Legacy and I loved this book. This book although it has a lot of the characters from The Black Dagger Brotherhood also has new people in it and it is just so good the way the author wrote this book! As a matter of fact I am so caught up in these books, I forgot to post my reviews when finished!

In this book we are introduced to Axe another young man training to be a soldier for the BDB. He is pretty much a loner, and has had a hard life growing up as his mother left him and her dad when he was so young and it slowly killed his father’s spirit and Axe watched him slowly give up waiting for his wife to come home. Unfortunately he was one of the victims in the raids that killed so many years ago and now Axe is alone. He is doing well in the training and is hired by the Princeps Felixe the younger to guard his daughter Elise while she goes to finish her doctorate in psychology. They fall in love~!

Rhage and Mary are so happy with Bitty and are waiting the 6 months to legally adopt her when Bitty’s uncle shows up and wants to be in Bitty’s life. Rhage and Mary are so devastated, and Vishous goes to check out where he is from and what kind of a man he is. When things seem like they are going to hell, JR Ward twists the plot right at the end and it is so unexpected it will make you love the end of this story.

This series just two books in has every indication that it is going to be just as satisfying as the BDB, and I am totally on board with this new generation of characters! I gave this book 5 awesome Stars!

Audio Blood Vow (Black Dagger Legacy #2) narrated by Jim Frangione

BDB FAN here and this was by far my least favorite book. I literally had to speed read through the Axe and Elise parts. Mary, Rhage and Bitty was the saving frace for this.

Axe was a totally watered down Vishous. The character started out very similar to V but the 180 was too much. His edge was totally wiped out and the romance wih him and Elise just didnt catch. The connection was simpering at best. He went from sex clubs and public sex to sitting in front lf a hearth with a crappy block of wood carving…sappy! Not what I expect from JR Ward

Elise- ok, she is my absolutely least fave female in this series. She is seriously so boring. She is a psych major that has ZERO self awareness. She is supposed to be smart but honestly comes off like a know it all who frankly doesnt seem to know anything. She is a blatant hypocrite and a waterdowned cross between paradise and Marissa.

This was a love story I could have missed. Axe is NO Vishous and Elise is no Dr Jane. A bodyguard with the rich girl who is really a smart girl who wants her independence from her stifling life. Cue EYE ROLL!!! Well- one out of this series is a damn amazong record though because I seriously love almost every other couple JR Ward has created. These 2 just didnt live up to the high level of awesome she heas created

When Axe joins the Black Dagger Brotherhoods Training program he intends to stay at arms length from the others especially Peyton and his Glymera pals. When a chance meeting throws him in the path of the lovely Elise all bets are off. Not only does he become her bodyguard, but he also finds a connection that hed never believed was possible.
This is not just a romance but a coming of age novel. Axe finds more out about himself than he knew existed and becomes a valuable member of the team through his brave actions. Elise is yet another strong female as per Wards usual style but her character is also determined and challenging. The bond between the pair is strong but the reasons for them not to be together are getting in the way, causing a friction for all those around.
The story is yet another beautifully romantic episode to the Black Dagger Legacy with its intricately crafted world and amazing full-bodied characters.
