This is about the 7th book I am reading in this series. The last books while well written, we’re disappointing in that the main character, John Pierce, never gets a break. He continually loses out with opportunity or is downright cheated.
Also, it is annoying that John Pierce, after all these books, does not want to be in the navy. By the end of this novel, if things have not changed, I’ll not read another book in this series.
I don’t mind authors going over the same ground in a series of books, but this author reviews the past of each character to the extreme in every book. It’s like he is trying to fill in pages to make the minimum. This beating around the bush love story in the background seems like these books were written by a female. I red them because I enjoy reading about the napoleonic war naval battles, not for the touchy feely.

Again our hero is left hangging and never seems to get ahead. the Pelicans are now freeand have their protections. And we have not resolved all of the issues, will have to read the next book too.

Audio Blown Off Course narrated by Peter Wickham
Nothing new here. This is one of those unusual novels that advances the principal story line not at all. The entire book, with the minor exception of a brief side trip across the channel as a duped smuggler, is nothing more than a review of what has gone before.
If one had never read one of the previous John Pearce novels this book might serve as a catch-you-up while waiting for the next episode which will hopefully advance the story line.
You will miss nothing if you miss this novel. Nothing changes, nothing advances, and a fair amount of boredom prevails. Save your money.

Although the books are good and well written there is far too much repetition of the whole series storyline so far in each book. If this carries on in the next book in the series I will be forced to stop reading any more of them. Surely the author should know that if a book is read out of sequence in the series the reader has the intelligence to correct this with their next purchase and follow the series storyline themselves. Unnecessary padding out of the story, a pity really hence the poor star rating.
