Butterfly Bayou audiobook – Audience Reviews

Excited to read this since Remy and Lisa’s book, and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed getting to know this town and the characters, and hope we see more of the town people. Looking forward to the next installment.

My only issue was the very tedious and long exposition passages that I noticed are becoming more prominent in Lexi Blake’s books (especially her MT series which I love, but please stop with the 3 pages of inner monologue!). I get that some of it is needed to help us understand the inner thoughts of the charcters, but these passages are getting way overboard now.

Aside from that, loving this new series. Makes me wish Papilon Parish was real so that I can visit!

Domestic violence triggers

Short review: read it

Lexi Blake is a must buy, must read author. This stand-alone is easy to follow and difficult to put down. No editing errors, gratuitous violence or drag-you-down drama.

It begins on a depressing note that quickly turns into a healing, positive storyline. Descriptive writing that draws the reader into each scene. Realistic procedures, actions and reactions. Believable characters with distinct personalities. Thought-provoking, memorable and occasionally snarky dialogue.

I will re-read this story and always look forward to, pre-order when possible, new works by this author.

Butterfly Bayou audiobook by Lexi Blake

I really liked this story, Lexi Blake was fantastic! There were times I would have tears in my eyes ,this book pulls you in right from the beginning, everything that Lila has gone through in her life raising her siblings from a really young age. When she went through the trauma of seeing her friend shot her ex husband holding her friend and her hostage until his wife died and then he shot him self unable to come to her aid, the nightmares affected her so strongly, she changed her life ,and moved to Louisiana,to a small town with great people! This was a great book to read in a rainy weekend or snowy day. I am looking forward to the next book in this series .

Butterfly Bayou audio narrated by Jessica Almasy

You will love this story whether you’re new to Lexi Blake or have loved everything she written for years. There are characters that have rolled over from her Master’s and Mercenaries series, and its nice to see them again. There is also some new characters that I absolutely love. Noelle, Mabel, and Zep know how to steal a scene. This book will make you laugh, cry, and possibly strangle a character from time to time, but through it all you feel every emotion. Another great read from the amazing Lexi Blake.

Lila has a tortured past, and is trying to start her life over in small town Louisiana after tragedy struck in Dallas. She is smart, funny, complicated, and 100% set in her ways. Always the one to help others and never accept help for herself. Her arrival in Papillon lets her know she is going to either make waves or make some personal changes if she wants to succeed in her new life.

Armie is a small town sheriff and single father of a teenage daughter. The big, strong sheriff has had his life changed in ways no parent ever expects. He thinks everything in his life will be same until the day he pulls over Lila Daley on her way into town. Now he has to try to find a way to make the bug city nurse fall for him.

Butterfly Bayou is a beautiful read. I loved every moment of this one. Your heart is put through so much from beginning to end. But it is so worth it. Armie is a single dad, sheriff and all around good guy. You heart goes out to him once you realize how close he holds onto everything even his daughter Noelle. Noelle is wheel chair bond and some ways needs to be normal in others is afraid to be independent. But you will discover all the reasons why they are the way they are as you read this. Then there is Lila. She is a survivor in so many ways. She is stronger then you think and is trying to acclimate into her new town. She doesn’t care what people think of her. She has gone through so much and starting over is just what she needed. I love the chemistry between Armie and Lila. Neither planned on the other. Yet they fit so well. I love how Lila is with Noelle even when she is trying to give her that push she needs. This book stole my heart and then some. I for one can’t wait to see where Lexi Blake takes this series next.
