I hate leaving books unfinished, but I’m not going to waste my time on this. There’s just some really corny scenes that make me roll my eyes and kind of make me embarrassed. Another thing, if in the book the author is using f**k and p***y and then uses “dagnamit”, it really kills the vibe of the book for me. That word makes me think of an old, toothless farmer with a piece of hay sticking out of his mouth. The main characters are too cheesy for me.

The Queen of Darkness just became the Queen of Comedy! Pepper Winters, writing as Tess Hunter, has completely blown my mind! I am addicted to her dark and twisted stories so much that I usually pre-order them without a synopsis, because she is that damn good. Sight unseen, I know that Pepper will deliver. Cant Touch This has me laughing my A%$ off and I am completely smitten with Tess Hunter!!

First of all, that cover. THAT COVER!!! I was like a love sick puppy drooling over that cover. I mean…WOW. I just knew that this book would be completely different, a unique story that i just wouldnt normally expect. I knew it would be hilarious, but heart warming? Make me cry? Totally unexpected and so very worth it.

Vesper Fairfax is a blonde, blue-eyed, and long-legged veterinarian who commits her life to her four-legged friends and her best friend, Polly, leaving no time for a guy. Except for the one guy who keeps bringing a spectacle of injured dogs to her vet. He goes out of his way to harass her, making her so very uncomfortable.

Ryder Carson with his hazel eyes, dark hair, and tall and muscular body is amazingly sexy. And so very annoying. Ryder loves to rescue dogs and more importantly harass the local veterinarian making her so uncomfortable he finds it funny. Ry is an all around good guy, helps people and animals all the same. There is no ulterior motive with him, he is very blunt when he tells Vesper he is interested in getting her to bed.

I laughed hysterically every time these two got together. Ryder gave it to her good and she wanted to give it back without going over the line. Ves was infuriated with Ryder but the small business that they owned really relied on Ryder and his rescues to help pay their bills as he was there a few times a week.

The chemistry between Ves and Ryder is so off the charts hot, it is unexplainable. Ryder is one kinky guy and brings out a wild animal in Vesper! Someone who is so in control likes to be so out of control in the bedroom. Except this one timewhich is really change your panties kinda hot You feel everything, and I mean everything. The sexual tension from Ryder, the sass and lust coming from Ves, unreal. I was completely taken by this couple. The fun they have together, their sexual chemistry is off the charts, the shared love for doing good; Vesper and Ryder are just one of those couples that everyone wants to see as themselves.

There is so much lighthearted fun, great banter between the two main characters and so much great sex to this story, I cannot even begin to tell you everything. Nor do I want to because Im going back in for a re-read right now. By the way, of course theres a small Oh My God, What?!? moment towards the end be rest assured there will be a happy ending (in more ways than one).

Can’t Touch This is a stand-alone book and the first in a new comedy series by this author.

Vesper is a hard working veterinarian with her college friend and now business partner. Ryder is in town renovating an old home and he works as a dog rescuer with whatever overflow the local dog shelters can’t handle. He comes in pretty gruff and demanding thinking his money should take care of anything he wants.

They have a love hate relationship. She needs the funds his business adds to their veterinary practice. But she hates how he expects instant jumping whenever day or night Ryder says how high. They slowly evolve from vet/pet owner to friends to lovers. It was a lot of fun.

I can’t remember how I stumbled across this book, but I am so glad I did! Apparently, this author is know for dark romance which is not my thing. However, even she admits that this is a different direction for her and the confidence of her loyal readers convinced me to try this title. I loved it! Such a sweet story. I even got teary reading about the author where she explains why she deviated in her writing styles to pay homage to her beloved animal friends and used this story as a healing process after their loss. It made me feel a bond with her as someone who has also lost four legged loved ones. As pet owners our vets are very important people in our lives. And I feel exactly like Ryder when one of my Bostons are in pain. I want attention right away. I really enjoyed the writing of each alternating chapter being his view/her view. Both H/h feelings are ones we have all felt at one time with the loves of our lives. The witty banter between Ryder and Vesper and the daring little role play between the two of them are delightful and wickedly fun. Also, fell in love with brother Rupert and bestie Polly. Can’t wait for their story… you just know there has to be one! It would be cruel for there not to be!

Ahhh Pepper, I loved this book.
Definitely not what you’d normally expect from Pepper Winters but I absolutely adored this book.
I smiled, I laughed, I fell in love with them.
My bottom lip trembled, I wanted to go on rescues with them and I wanted to live in that house with Ryder and Vesper.
Damn that man is my fantasy…where the hell can I get myself a Ryder?
I haven’t spotted the follow up book, ‘Can’t Own This’ yet, but I hope Pepper decides to write it if she hasn’t already. I’d love for Polly to find her HEA and I’m so wanting to catch up with what Ryder and Ves are up to.
A truly wonderful book which filled me full of happy and made me sigh. You have to give it a read.
