Chosen To Die (Alvarez & Pescoli #2)

There are a number of good things about this story– interesting setting, strong women characters in non-traditional roles, several red herrings, a plot twist that sets up the end. It is violent, as we expect from murder mysteries, and there is quite a bit of explicit sex. Because of the nature of the story (a serial killer eludes police), much of the violence is repetitive. Less reasonably, so is much of the sex. The biggest irritation from my perspective is that the single story is stretched out into two volumes when less repetition and fewer descriptions of young women’s nipples would have made a faster-paced, more suspenseful story.

Maybe slightly better than Book 1, but only slightly. This book seems to ramble on too much. The storyline seems disjointed, the police department is practically useless, and actually impedes their own investigation. The author throws characters into the story that don’t seem to have a purpose in the storyline. It took 1000 pages to tell the story of the Star Crossed serial killer. I did not like the series and will not continue to read this author.

I had just read the first book in this series and was pleased to be able to get the second book for a sale price. It is a great read and follows right along where book one ends.

This is a sequel to Left To Die which was a cliffhanger. It was a better story than I expected (I dont typically care for kidnap/hostage stories). But this was better than the typical hostage type story. Im now interested in continuing the Alvarez/Pescoli series and reading other books by Lisa Jackson.

This book continues the story from book 1. It grabs you and you cant put it down. I missed the main characters from book 1, at least a more complete ending. Suspenseful and twisting story lines make it a great read.
