Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other

I have to say that these two are intelligent, hilarious and such great companions to share in the journey of exploring the land and history of Scotland. From the moment I heard about this project, I was excited because I’m a history enthusiast myself. There is nothing I love more than being able to learn vicariously through the eyes of people who are natives to the land. I’m not at all surprised that two men, who are both very intelligent, articulate and witty, would eventually write a book, but I didn’t expect them to do it together! The best part of this one is their antics and the deep love they both have for history and Scotland. We recently discovered my husband is hailing from this beautiful country, rich in tradition and the gorgeous kilt, so the history was particularly interesting to me. This book is lovely and the forward is absolute perfection. In honesty, I don’t think I’ve been more excited over a waiting for a book… Well, except for my autographed hardcovers of the Outlander books… :0)

In a year of personal pain and loss, I’m so grateful to have had the chance to travel with these two characters and laugh my way though one fantastic read. They had me laughing on page one. My one wish is that I’ll find a way to have this one signed, too. Sam and Graham, thanks to you both for providing the highlight of my year. I laughed until it hurt watching your interviews and the book was everything I hoped for and more! Cheers! P.S. I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to a volume 2!

Clanlands arrived to find me ill, feeling like I was dying of the flu and awaiting results of Covid test. I started reading this Classy looking book with two beautiful Scottish men on the cover. Oh my goodness I think theres a conspiracy to kill me. Forget the flu and Covid, as I read I thought I would die laughing. Sooo hilarious. At times, deeply moving. Always entertaining and bringing to life Scottish history and the majesty and beauty of the Scottish Highlands. Feel much better after reading it. Laughter is, after all, the best medicine! Thankyou dear Sirs!

It has has been difficult to get me to laugh these days, but Sam and Graham did the job! I found myself laughing out loud repeatedly at the shenanigans of these two obviously good friends.
If you are expecting a serious treatise on the history of the Scottish highlands, then perhaps this book is not for you.
However, if you are a fan of these incredibly talented actors, you will love their madcap adventures throughout the country. There is also information about their personal lives and careers, as well as behind the scenes anecdotes about Outlander.
I am so happy that I purchased this book. Try it. I dont think you will be disappointed.

I was not expecting to be so delighted with this gem of a book. It is a compelling look at Scottish landscape and history embellished with the camaraderie and exquisite humor (and candor) of both authors. The audiobook I also purchased adds to the experience immeasurably. Well done!

I am a fan of Outlander and Diana Gabaldon, so I preordered Clanlands. It arrived today and I can say it is thoroughly delightful. Diana’s introduction is funny and engaging and the travels of these two wonderful Scots are the best ever. I think anyone will enjoy it. Highly recommended!
