Confessions After Dark (After Dark #2)

Ok, I’m breathing again and I have a glass of wine…let me tell you about Confessions After Dark, book two in the After Dark Series, by Kahlen Aymes. This book absolutely rocked my world. It sucked me in, whirled me about, tossed me upside down and continues to occupy my thoughts…it won’t let me go!!!! And because of this I have enshrined the book into my All Time Best Books Ever category! Alex Avery and Angel Hemming go so well together I thought I was reading about real life people. What? Wait? They aren’t real? Damn shame! The roller coaster of emotions played out between the two had me holding my breath, biting my nails, smiling, crying, screaming and talking to the characters as if they were in the same room as me. Alex and Angel could have saved themselves a bunch of trouble if they’d only taken my advice…ha! Alex Avery is one hot stud muffin and I absolutely loved his passion and protectiveness; he is every book boyfriend I’ve ever had rolled into one, and that’s a lot of rolling! Angel is intelligent, caring, beautiful, passionate and oh so afraid to give her heart to love as is Alex; which spells trouble with a capital ‘T’. Waiting for the final book in this series, Promises After Dark will be excruciating. Kahlen Aymes is a brilliant writer whose way with words is out of this world. Consider reading this series, beginning with Angel After Dark, you won’t be sorry. I promise you one heck of a ride! Thank you, Kahlen!

THE BEST SUSPENSE ROMANCE SERIES…in my opinion… you won’t put it down. A plot that is a breath of fresh air! A story/plot that is different from the rest. ‘Zander & Angel – a love at first site – create a story of unconditional love you won’t believe. Duo-narration is so well done! Jessie Bair and Zach Webber are my favorite narrators out of the 200+ romance books I’ve ‘read’ / listened to. A dark sultry voice and a soft-spoken one are PERFECT for setting the mode and tugging at the emotional strings… THANK YOU FOR NARRATION! I wish more authors would remember those who listen more than read…

Kahlen Aymes – you’ve got a gift! Your character descriptions, story outline, plot and feelings of the characters are all spot on. (I can’t say if others have had the same experience with their own head-reading…) but the audio is one more element that takes you deeper into the book. I’m in love with ‘Zander by the words and dialogue put into his mouth by Aymes! So real, cad, to-the-point honest I’ve had the pleasure to read. THIS….series…. IS one of the best I’ve experienced. Thank god all three books were available at once – no waiting here.

I can only tell you that this experience made me laugh! Made me swoon! Made me afraid! Made me cry for joy, and terror, and humor. All three books are worth every penny!!!

WOW THIS IS ONE CRAZY READ !!

This story has it all , and in great quantities !! We have SEX , super hot and just wow so good !! There is drama , danger , suspense , love all the good things wrapped into book 2 !! Your head may spin and you may want to freak but this book is great and possibly my fave of the 3 !! Because of this my review will be vague , no spoilers and no rambling !!

We already know that Alex and Angel have a super hot chemistry. They are both anti relationship but there is no denying they both want more and despite being stubborn it shows over and over again in their actions. Angel’s work has brought on some serious danger and since Alex is one of those super hot alpha males you know this isn’t going to go over well. As she tries to solve her case Alex tries to protect her and lies and secrets may possibly end up destroying them. Hang on tight and be warned Angel gets a little wishy washy and you may want to strangle her but again these two are destined to be together so just enjoy their moments of hot sex and be on the edge of your seat for some suspense !! I loved getting to know Alex’s family and I just loved the loving side of Alex. I am hoping for good things to come and cannot wait for more. I love stories that have you feeling so many emotions all at once and this is one of them !! Didn’t want to put it down.

This was just ok for me. Angel really got on my nerves in this book. If she would have just been honest and up front with Alex and the police a lot of the bs won’t have happened. I get that she’s tough and can take care of herself but really some of her actions where just stupid. We also know that someone is following Angel, they know things and Alex says, that it must be someone on the inside to be one set ahead of them. Then there’s the whole “dream sex” that wasn’t really a dream, I mean come on, really??? I give this one 2.5 stars

I absolutely loved the first book Angel After Dark. COULD NOT WAIT for this book to come out. I was thankful that we only had to wait a couple months for book 2. I bought this book yesterday morning and spent all day reading it. My son had a soccer game last night and I even took my Kindle with me to read at halftime! That is how addicting this book is. I didn’t want to put it down. I had to substitute teach today at one of my son’s school and yep, took my Kindle again and finished it up while my kids were at lunch and recess. I just had to finish it.

Kahlen is an amazing writer. I feel like this book could have ended right now at book 2 but I AM SO GLAD THAT THERE IS ONE MORE BOOK TO COME to wrap up the series. I would love to see how Kahlen wraps up the story. You just fall in love with both Angel and Alex. You want more books with them.
