This one felt longer than it should have been. The pace was slow. Understandably so, since both MCs are working through their own issues. But it just felt a tad drawn out. Definitely a slow, slow burn. Javi was a wonderful character, even if riddled with a lot of self esteem issues. He has a big heart and apparently, quite the artist. But boy does he do a lot of running. Gordo was another great character. All the insecurities and nervous energy of being a first time parent, it made him always on edge. I stressed for him. As much as it was very slow paced, I enjoyed how their relationship progressed. I was thrilled when they finally got their HEA. This is my first book that is a Jack Maguire narration. He did great in establishing voices for each characters. My only issue was his accent, I realize it’s to establish the character’s local diction.. but I struggled understanding a lot of the words he was saying, I had to scan the ebook to figure out what it was. And it made me cringe every time he says Giuriana. ? ** thanks to GRR for the opportunity to listen and review**

\’Daddy Ink\’, the first installment in the \’Get Ink\’d\’ series, is a romance between Gordo, a recently divorced father of an infant daughter and Javi, a talented tattoo artist. I was offered the opportunity to request a free review copy of this audiobook. I saw that it held one of my favorite plots: single parent, and decided to ask for it. This is my voluntary review. The first half of this book involves the very slow burn between Gordo and Javi. Each man has insecurities that prevent them from acknowledging their feelings for each other. The plot involves a lot of assumptions being made about the other man and not a lot of communicating going on. This gets a little tedious and repetitive, I suppose it\’s an effort to reinforce that they both have issues to work out. About halfway through the book the relationship gets started in earnest and this is where I start to like it more. The romance between Gordo and Javi is sweet and loving, and once they begin to communicate their fears to each other it only gets better. I enjoyed the scenes from Get Ink\’d, the tattoo shop in which Javi works. The subplots from the shop are interesting and hopefully we\’ll get a lot more of those in future installments. Narrator Jack J Maguire does a pretty nice job. I liked his emotional expression. He has some oddly pronounced words that stuck out, but didn\’t ruin the story for me. Recommended.

Audiobook Daddy Ink (Get Ink’d #1) by Ali Lyda

I enjoyed the story here and both Javi and Gordo certainly had their issues to work through. This led to a very slow burn romance between them and was perhaps drawn out more than it needed to. The peeks into Chris and Dane’s relationship has me looking forward to their whole story. The narrator did an adequate job though his performance isn’t one I anticipate listening to again often.

Audio Daddy Ink (Get Ink’d #1) narrated by Jack J. Maguire

This story was so good. I love single dad stories and this one did not disappoint! There is a lot of walking away between Javi and Gordo and even when they FINALLY admit their feelings for each other things still aren’t easy. The narration was meh for me. Not good but not bad either, just meh.

This is a very sweet story, with characters who are facing real issues and who are easy to understand. Gordo may seem like an asshole, but if you have been exhausted, sleep-deprived and longing for just a bit of time to take a shower without having the door open you can get why he snaps as he does 😛 Javi is a fantastic character, caring and with a heart made of pure gold, but riddled with self-doubt rooted deep into his past. They made a fantastic couple, and mostly, they are dealing well with their issues, although I\’d have preferred that they fixed his relationship without the car accident. I like the hints about the couple for the next book, and I\’m very curious about what\’s going on between those two. Jack J. Maguire\’s narration wasn\’t one of my favourites TBH. It\’s not bad, just not for me.
