This book is all about family; Colbys family includes her brother & sister at 1st; then long lost uncles come to bring them to Brazil but, because theyre unknown to them they balk especially Colby.
The long lost relatives brought the De la Cruz family (2 brothers out of 5) to help or try to persuade Colby that they mean no harm. Colby resisted Nicholas charm (sarcastically said).
Then Rafael saw her & that was it for him as he knew at last that he found his lifemate.
Now you get to read about Colby & her growing family & the hardships they endure.

If there was ever a series that was written taking the reader to the edge of their seats it would be the Carpathian series written by Ms Christine Feehan and the latest Dark Secret if there was two characters that were meant to be together it would be these two. At times they seem like yin and yang. I have to give major props to Ms Feehan for creating Monsieur Rafael De La acruz hes my FAVORITE so far in this series, luv a good ole dark arrogance dominating man anytime, anyday.

I have read multiple books in this series & this is THE worst! The constant use of the verbiage that he is going to take over her life & make her do what she does not want to is almost like rape. Using your looks, mind control & hitting on a woman when she is vulnerable is wrong; real or imagined. Very disappointed.

After a long and turbulent courtship it does. Now imagine adding a younger brother and sister to the mix. Even more turbulent when the mean vampire tries to take over the younger brother to get Colby (the cowgirl) to do as he wishes.
Enter the Carpathian, Rafael. He tries to hold everything and everyone together while courting Colby. Life and death is a cycle repeated throughout the series but it evolves, growing, expanding into different directions and that is just one of the reasons why everyone should read this author and all her series.
