I have to admit, I was hoping for more from Dax.
It was not a bad book, but it was not my favorite book so far.
Ive loved Dax since he appeared in the first book, Bishop. He was always so happy go lucky, in for anything everyone else was doing. This book showed a different side to Dax. He was very…adult, for lack of a better word. And thats a good thing. I loved the more serious, responsible Dax. Stepping in to take over caring for his best friend, Lances little sister. Regan and Lance grew up with his own siblings. After the death of their parents, they became family. So initially, it was like stepping in for a member of his family.
Regan was a strong female character. Dealing with her medical issues, getting her college degree, standing as much as she could, on her own two feet. But after the death of her brother, her only remaining blood relative, she is desperate for life saving help.
Enter Dax. And his unconventional solution. Marry him. A marriage of convenience. A marriage on paper only. It doesnt take long for real feelings to get involved. Add in a little alcohol, and soon both are acting on those feelings.
I liked both Dax and Regan. I just did not feel any connection to them as a real couple. They went from friends, to husband and wife, to lovers so fast, I just didnt buy into it. There was no development of their attraction for each other or their relationship.
I didnt hate their story, I just wanted more.
That being said, it was a quick, drama free read. And by the end they do become a real, in love with each other couple.
Were more and more hints into Tackers story. And as heartbreaking as it sounds, Im really looking forward to reading it. We also get a hint at Dominiks story.
I do love this series, and will continue reading it.

Regan hasnt had the easiest life. Her parents died in a car accident when she was only 14 years old. Her brother Lance stepped up to take care of her and has been by her side ever since. When tragedy strikes a friend from Regans past comes back into her life and nothing will be the same.

Dax is a hotshot hockey player for the Arizona Vengeance. He has his fair share of woman to keep his bed warm at night (even some crazies). When his past comes knocking, he does what he does on the ice, he takes control. Only in taking control he never realized that he would develop real feelings for his best friends little sister.

Since the very first Arizona Vengeance book, Ive been waiting, rather impatiently if I can be honest, to see how Sawyer would tell Daxs story. She didnt disappoint! I was captivated from the very start and read this book in one sitting because I had to know what was going to happen! That just what Sawyer does, she captivates you from the very first page until the very last and then she gives you a sneak peek at the next book and you are left waiting! She never disappoints and the way she writes leaves you rooting for the characters, both the main and the secondary characters! I also love how she sets you up for the next book in the series by giving you a little bit more insight into secondary characters that leaves you begging for their books!

Review #3

Audiobook Dax by Sawyer Bennett

This book is a great addition to the series and I welcomed finally getting Dax’s story. Dax feels an obligation to take care of Regan, a girl he has known all his life and sister of his best friend Lance who dies. But it doesn’t take long for fireworks to happen and feelings to start between them. What is interesting in this story is that Regan has a disease called PNH that she is dealing with and it is life threatening. The author did her research and I feel she painted a realistic picture of it and how it affects someone. This lead to the author showing us also how people around you react to it. Such is the case of Dax as he goes through different emotions dealing with it and realizing his love for Regan is worth anything. Other than the seriousness of the illness the story is enjoyable as I cared for the characters and getting the story of one more of the Arizona Vengeance novel. Bring on the next book in the series….Tacker!

Review #4

Audio Dax narrated by Aiden Snow Virginia Rose

Loved this book.
Loved the storyline and the characters.
Absolutely adored Dax and his selflessness toward Regan. Loved how he started off just intending to help her but how they both progressed into something phenomenal with their love for each other.
This was a remarkable story of two childhood friends one of whom had a life threatening illness and how they coped and managed to have a beautiful life together.

Do t know why but just felt this was not the best read by this author. Characters were okay but there was a fair bit going on and at times felt it lost the thread of some of the activities and folks.
