This is one of the all time worst books I have read. Shallow, unlikable women, every single one. The author presents all men, except the two gay caterers, as selfish stupid bastards. This book is so bad it does not deserve to be called a trashy novel. Savannah is a fabulous setting for a novel. Totally wasted on this one. I live in Savannah and always am seeking good books set in this area. This was a lazy and sloppy effort on the authors part.
The New York Times Book Review recommended this. Really appalling. I have lost trust in their reviews.

I really enjoyed Cross Her Heart so I was excited to read Dead to Her by Sarah Pinborough as well. Unfortunately (why can’t the book always be as good as the cover?) it didn’t completely work for me.
It felt like a fast read but still took me over 5.5 hours which is pretty long for me for a 385-page book. Also, I don’t really think it could be considered a thriller. Dead to Her is more like a drama-filled mystery about wealthy people and people with secrets they’d rather keep buried. The plot was a little slow for my taste and I ended up guessing the killer before it was revealed. This was disappointing since I was expecting a crazy twist that I didn’t think I got.
There were definitely positives as well though. Dead to Her has a lot of layers and there always seemed to be something new to learn about the characters. I was a fan of the ending even though some people weren’t, and I’m hopeful there is more karma coming to some of the characters! I also really enjoyed the setting of Savannah, Georgia and the voodoo theme.
Song/s the book brought to mind: I Put A Spell On You by Annie Lennox
Final Thought: Even though Dead to Her isn’t going to be my favorite Pinborough novel, I definitely still recommend checking it out for yourself. Not a lot of likable characters but that didn’t bother me, and there were still a few things I wasn’t expecting. I love the experience that reading Pinborough’s books gives me, and I can’t wait for the next one!

Audiobook Dead to Her by Sarah Pinborough
Sorry this book was a vacuous, cliche ridden series of thudding non- events. So much redundant uninteresting writing and character development was hastily colored in with garish markets. Spoiler- the ghost was an albino not an actual ghost. Wow.

Marriage can be murder
SOMETHING OLD
Marcies affair with Jason Maddox catapulted her into the world of the elite.
Old money, old ties, old secrets. Marcie may have married into this world
but shell never be part of it.
SOMETHING NEW
Then Jasons boss brings back a new wife from his trip to London.
Young, attractive, recklessnobody can take their eyes off Keisha.
Including Marcies husband.
SOMETHING YOU CAN NEVER, EVER UNDO
Some people would kill for the life Marcie haswhat will she do to keep it?
My Thoughts: Marcie is trying to fit into her new life in Savannah without letting the past keep her captive.
Keisha wants the money she would have if her wealthy and brutish husband dies.
Jason longs to take over the company from his boss.
All of these people have secrets, and the darkness that keeps them from being truly good will surely dictate what happens next in their lives.
Dead to Her unfolds from the perspectives of them all, and we are left trying to guess who has suddenly turned a corner into true darkness. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the author surprised me in the end.
An enjoyable read, but it seemed to take forever to read it as I sank further into the darkness with the characters. 4.5 stars.

Sarah Pinborough is an excellent author and this novel fell short compared to her previous two. I found this author riding on the heels of E.L. James and would not have classified as suspenseful or in a thriller category. I gave it a two because although the synopsis was well written the plot nose dived and did not deliver.
