Edge of Darkness

I have been reading the Dark Series from the very beginning and I have never missed one. However, for quite a few years now the sex scenes are taking up more and more if the book instead of the story. Even in the sex scenes the same sentence is repeated over and over again. This is true for most of the book, not just this one. In this one the fact that Blaze’s father was beaten and killed and thrown at her was repeated time and again. How many times do I have to read how beautiful she was and how gorgeous he is. It feel like just words being repeated over again and again to fill the word count.
I love this series but it’s the storyline that got me hooked back then. The powerful fight scenes and the overall interaction and relationship between the lifemates, not just pages and pages of sex. It’s to the point that I just skip most of it. Which is a damn shame given how expensive the books are.

Warning!! This is not a new book. It was in an anthology. “Edge of Darkness” I hate it when they do this and don’t give you that information up front. I’ll be returning this one as soon as I get to my computer. If you read the series you definitely need to read this one before “Dark Carosel.

Book Review- Dark Crime by Christine Feehan

Blaze plans to avenge her fathers death. She intends to kill the Hallahan brothers. She has invited them to the war she is starting. She calls the number on the bar next to the phone, the one her father saved for emergencies. Maksim Volkov answers her call. He realizes immediately who she is and what she is planning. Tariq Asenguard and Maksim rush to stop her. She is Maksims lifemate and he is determined to save her then claim her.
Blaze and Maksim partner up to protect her friend Emeline. Tariq and Maksim realize there are two master vampires in the area. More is going on than the Carpathians thought. Blazes revenge and her fathers murder are just the iceberg. She and Emeline get pulled deeper into the vampire world as Blaze embraces her lifemate. The fight is just beginning.
I love this author and this novella didnt disappoint. Blaze was an awesome character, trained to fight by her father. She is smart and strong. She is exactly my favorite type of female character. Add in Maksim as her lifemate and the sparks fly. They are both strong personalities and stubborn.
The author created these situations that made Blaze vulnerable. I loved how she handled them. She and Maksim were a great pairing and the story it introduces was a great read so far. You know Emeline will come into play later as will the Carpathian warrior they end up finding. I cant wait to see how the story evolves. I love them all. I give this a 4 out of 5.

I was pleased when the characters in Dark Promise indicated that they would be relocating to the United States. I wasn’t going to purchase this novella because the reviews indicated that it was a reprint (apparently from Edge of Darkness). However, since I’ve been collecting kindle versions of these Carpathian books that I’ve read years ago, I decided to buy it. Surprisingly, it turns out that this was one that I hadn’t previously read. This book appears to take place between Dark Promise and Dark Carousel (which I have but haven’t read yet). Perfect.

I liked the characters in this story. I like that it takes place in our more modern World. And I’m enthused that the Carpathians are going to battle evil in the U.S. The males who discover their lifemates in this country will just have to adjust their thinking to allow for more independent women.

The writing, as always, is good. The sex is hot. The males are hunky. And this was reasonably long for a novella, so I’m glad that I read it…and that I read it in the proper order.

Christine Feehan never disappoints. Dark Crime has it all suspense, laughter, love and some parts will bring you to tears. We are introduced to Blaze a human psychic with a heart of a warrior. Her father is brutally murdered and she will avenge his death. She reaches out to Tariq and Makism to help her. What she doesn’t realize is Makism will not let her die, she is his life mate. Well once Blaze and Makism meet it is on. With help from the sexy triplets and some friends they will discover an underground lair that is beyond evil.
If you have read any of Feehans Dark Series then you need to pick up a copy of Dark Crime. If you love paranormal romance then I suggest you give Dark Crime a go but if you haven’t read Feehan’s Dark Series you might want to start at the beginning with Dark Prince to get a better understanding of the storyline and characters. Feehan has created a wonderful world out of The Dark Series.. if you like Vampires you will love The Carpathians
