The new enemy which started chasing the ship was deadlier than the previous enemies which the humans of the world have ever faced. If this enemy is allowed to flourish its impact in outer space then it will be the end of everything. The strongest ship which the people of the earth had has already received some massive blows from the alien race. If Vanguard goes down then the human beings on earth would be like sitting ducks afterward.
The enemy is not the only problem that the crew of Vanguard faces this time. Some internal problems related to the captain also teases the team. Things slowly start to look blur for the Vanguard crew and the people of the earth. A serious beacon house of hope is needed for the human race otherwise they will just surrender sooner or later in front of the strong enemy.

After the middle of the story, there is a serious struggle that is seen in the battleship. Vanguard tries to get out of the trap that the enemy has knitted around it. The survival of the ship is a must of the people of the earth because they are waiting for its return.
