One Wild Night (Hollywood Chronicles #1)

This story had me hooked from the very first page. A chance encounter and one wild night turns into a whirlwind romance neither Pax nor Kaylee anticipate. Pax is the ultimate catch sexy, incredibly charismatic, fiercely protective. He isnt looking for a relationship but once he meets Kaylee, he is unable to resist the pull to want more with her. Kaylee is gorgeous, sweet and genuine. She quickly falls under Paxs spell and, try as she may, she is drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Though they come from two different worlds, the more time they spend together they realize they share a deep connection that cant be ignored. Their story is beautiful and breathtakingly romantic. Their chemistry is electric and the intimate scenes are passionate and incredibly sexy. I didnt want this story to end. Jackson and Shea make an incredible team. Their writing is seamless and captivating. I cant wait to read more from this magnetic duo. I highly recommend reading this book!

3.5 stars Kaylee is not exactly used to a world of glitz and glamour as a kindergarten teacher, but her college roommate and best friend was born a part of it so when she asks Kaylee to attend her director dad\’s movie premiere with her, Kaylee can\’t say no. She didn\’t count on her bestie flaking out and abandoning her to attend by herself though, so her nerves are in full force as she tries to just navigate through the crowd of Hollywood\’s who\’s who and get inside the building unnoticed. One trip in her unfamiliar designer heels leads to Kaylee falling right into the arms of her biggest celebrity crush- Paxton Myles. Although she is completely out of her element, she just can\’t say no to the smoldering leading man who seems set on having a chance at one night with her. She agrees before she can second-guess her decision (or fourth- or fifth guess it as the case may be). He can have any woman he wants, so she has to wonder- why her? One wild and steamy night comes to a close and Kaylee decides to sneak away before the real world can intrude but she doesn\’t count on the paparazzi catching her walk of shame on camera. The difference in their two worlds couldn\’t be more clear as she is instantly hounded by the press and people she hasn\’t heard from in years, but that isn\’t even the worst of it. Fortunately Paxton proves he is more than just a pretty face as he swoops in to rescue her, but the real world still threatens to intrude on the fairy tale all too often. One Wild Night is a perfect example of my love/ hate relationship with novellas and shorter stories. You have to be a fan of insta-love because there just is not enough pages to really develop the love story beyond instant attraction and chemistry. This story is a true case of opposites attract. Paxton is the sexy, swoony leading man who really is a genuinely great guy when you dig beneath the public persona and fame, and Kaylee is a mix of innocence and seductress that I struggled to reconcile at times. She is like a lamb thrown into a pool of piranha when it comes to Pax\’s life, and even his closest associates don\’t make it easy for her. But at the end of the day, One Wild Night was a fun and sexy read from two amazing authors and I look forward to seeing what else they have in store for us in the future!

One Wild Night is a fun, light, quick read. In a huge step away from their usual fare, this book is light on but not completely devoid of the heavy angst and deeply emotional themes we usually see from both of these authors. It was obvious as I was reading they had fun writing this book, the joy of the process shown through in the writing. One Wild Night is the first book in a series of collaborations expected from AL Jackson and Rebecca Shea called the Hollywood Chronicles. They are purported to be a series of interconnected standalones, and I am so excited to see what is to come. One Wild Night is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Kaylee and Paxton. This couple, Kaylee and Paxton, had great chemistry. Im a sucker for a celebrity falling for a normal person, so this was right in my wheelhouse. Paxton was the highlight of the story, his persistence and the way he cared for Kaylee when she was so hesitant to pursue more than a single night with her celebrity crush endeared him to my heart. The plot was fun and moved quickly. It wasnt hugely revolutionary, but that is what makes these kinds of books, so fun to spend a few hours with on a lazy weekend. While this was a short read, it didnt feel lacking in any way, sure it was insta-love, but it totally worked for this book. I appreciated that Ms. Jackson and Ms. Shea still added a sprinkling of angst and emotion into this book, it kept One Wild Night from feeling too light to have come from such heavy hitters. I love that two of my favorite authors, AL Jackson and Rebecca Shea, came together to collaborate on this novel and series. I always love both of their books and getting a little of each of them in one place is a dream come true. I do hope that eventually, they write something heavier because I can only imagine how deeply they could destroy me if they put their minds to it.

I absolutely love when two of my favorite authors team up to write together and this book is another perfect example of what kind of magic can be created. Ms. Shea and Ms. Jackson have taken what I\’m sure a lot of girls and women have dreamed about growing up….meeting and falling in love with their Hollywood crush, and made it reality for Kaylee Rose. She\’s a sweet, innocent and unassuming kindergartener teacher and he\’s the hottest movie start today and when they meet, fireworks go off for both of them. I literally was ooohing and aaaahhhing the entire book between having to cool myself off because when Kaylee and Paxton get down to business, she\’s not so innocent anymore!!! One of my favorite parts of this book is how Paxton knew that Kaylee was for him and he would stop at nothing to get her in his life. She\’s his breath of fresh air, even if there are people in his camp that aren\’t so crazy about her being there! This is a perfect quick read and if you\’re like me, you\’ll fall in love with Paxton and Kaylee and how One Wild Night can become a lifetime of love.

I liked the characters of Kaylee and Paxton but the book was too short to really get to know them. Need more of their story please…..
