Sloan Kennedy is one of my favorite authors. She’s a great story teller and I own about 2 dozen of her books.

The story in Finding Forgiveness is really good, though the amount of excitement and intrigue is diminished compared to many other of her stories.

However, it’s the amount of sex scenes in the book that almost ruins the story. I felt like putting the book down 2 thirds of my way in not knowing how many almost chapters of solid graphic detailed sex I’d have to wade through. I usually skim past the few pages in a sex scene, as I’ve told many authors writing in this gay romance genre, If I wanted to read porn, I’d watch it instead. I buy gay romance to read about gay relationships and whatever problems the guys have, I don’t need to have graphic descriptions of sex shoved in my face for entire chapters!

This book begins with a gang rape and ends with sex as well… and seemingly all through the entire novel. I tried skipping over the stuff but was like missing a third of the book! Come ON!!?? Give me a Break!! I mean I know sex is an important part of any relationship but some of these novels writers must think it is paramount to everything and anything else! Give. Me. A. Break!

Suffice to say… I won’t be buying any more of the “Finding” Series.
Sad to see a good story ruined by a focus on SEX!

I loved Hunter and Roman from the first page. They are so perfect for each other. I wouldn’t call the book perfect but easily give it 4.5 stars. I felt the sensitive issues were dealt with respectfully and I loved that more information was included at the end of the book for those who need or know someone who may need help. As usual when reading a Sloane Kennedy novel, I laughed, cried, cheered the heroes, and booed the villains. Just a very satisfying read. Now on to the next. I’m glad I decided to take a chance on this author. If you haven’t then you probably should too!

Audiobook Finding Forgiveness by Sloane Kennedy

I am reviewing all four books in the series (thus far, another is possibly in the works per the author’s note at the end of the series) in one fell swoop. The series is the first one in which I’ve read where three (male) characters end up together at the end of one book and it works well as opposed to just the ‘classic’ sexual encounters that occasionally go beyond one or two people. I found all the characters mentioned in the series to be well-developed and engaging in their own way. I was happy to see the whole HEA since that is one of the reasons to read these stories (real life can suck sometimes, these books do leave people on a happy note!). I could have easily read more about the men and their growing as individuals. I hope the author does write a follow-up to share how everyone ends up in a few year’s time.

Audio Finding Forgiveness narrated by Michael Dean

I have really enjoyed the previous 3 books in this series but this final book, the author took it to another level.

All the other characters are back as we are taken on such an emotional ride.

This is Roman and Hunter’s story who we know a little bit about from the previous books.

Both these characters come from families that really dont know the meaning of love, your heart will break for these two as learn more about them.

Parts of this book were absolutely heart breaking.
I loved Hunter straight from the first couple of chapters, he had so much pain in heart and didn’t think he deserved love, then you had Roman, wow he became my knight in shining armour.

I could talk about this book forever but I dont want to give anything away. One thing I will say is, dont start this book unless you have a box of tissues because trust me, there will be tears.

This is the perfect end to a great series–two exceptionally broken characters in Roman and Tucker, a couple of nasty plot lines, and a great reunion of all the MCs from each of the three previous books.

Read the blurb and get on with it. The “trigger warnings” were, to me, unnecessary. The incredible sexual attraction which brings the 32-year-old Roman and 20-year-old Tucker to a beautifully developed and very richly detailed series of steamy encounters is nicely balanced out by the psychological problems each has.

There is a hint from the author that some day, some way, she may revisit Dare, Montana. If so, I want to be at that party.
