This one was better than the previous book, I liked Lily and Jacob for the most part. Lily was a good character, she was strong and independant. She wasn\’t afraid to stand up against her family and friends and fight for what she wanted. She was fierce and refused to be walked all over. Jacob was ok, for a character that I was supposed to believe was this strong, alpha type; he was a bit of a pussy. Although I completely agree with his decision to try to stay away from Lily when she was underage, the whole running away for 3 years because his of his parental issues was ridiculous. He kind of tried to play the victim card but then wanted to turn around and be domineering and controlling with Lily was a bit of a contradiction. I appreciated that he wasn\’t willing to give up when he FINALLY made the decision to fight for her, but I didn\’t like that he seemed condescending to Lily when she was upset about something; The whole \”who do you think your talking to\” thing made me want to feed him his teeth. I loved that Lily\’s mom knew and gave them her blessing, and I liked that Lucas and Alex really didn\’t play that big of a role in this book. The sex scenes kind of seemed a little G rated for the \”passion\” that these two had for each other. I kept waiting for an amazing, crazy intense sex scene and it never happened, even though that\’s what it felt like was building to. Overall their great love felt down played and I think thats kind of a continuous theme among this series and that is really sad; because these could be amazing if we could just get over that hurdle. I am very interested to read the next book, it sounds like its going to be a nail biter. I really enjoyed the writing, like with the last book; its so descriptive that you don\’t feel like your reading words, more like watching it on IMAX.

Robinson showed there\’s a reason she\’s called the Queen of Angst with Complicate Me, and she continued her reign with Forbid Me. Complicate Me was Robinson\’s angsty version of a friends to lovers story. Now you are given her angsty version of the forbidden story of your best friends little sister. Jacob and Lilly\’s road to their HEA isn\’t one that is without its crater size potholes along the way. Jacob isn\’t suppose to notice Lilly the way they he does. Especially when there\’s a difference in their ages like there is. Then add in the fact that her brother is one of his oldest friends, and that just makes her off limits. Still you can\’t help who your heart chooses to belong to. Lilly knew she loved Jacob when she was just looked at as Lucas\’s baby sister. And all she ever wanted was for Jacob to see her as something other than how he always saw her. Life has its way if throwing curves when all you want is for it to be straight down the middle. All the ups and downs of Jacob and Lilly\’s life they wanted together will have you cursing Robinson for finding joy in ripping your heart out. With the whip lash that you will end up having just remember that Robinson will be kind enough to provide you with a neck brace in the form of an HEA.

Audiobook Forbid Me (The Good Ol’ Boys #2) by M. Robinson

I must admit when i finished Complete Me i just wanted to dive into the next book Forbid Me the way Complete Me ended you couldnt help. I must admit because we knew Lily from such a young age it was a little weird for me to read about her and Jacob but once you got into the heart of the story i forgot all about the age gap (which lets be honest was not really a gap) there story was really fantastic one. I loved both Jacob and Lily there chemistry was so good and the banter between them was so funny at times, you could tell there was something between them even if it was Jacob just looking after lily or protecting it was so beautiful to read. Even though we went back a bit in the past i must admit that even though we had read some of the same story in Complete me it was so good to read it from Lilys point of view especially when it came to her mums story and it broke my heart all over again. I really really loved this story and has got me excited for the rest of the Good Ol boys stories especially with the way Forbid Me ended and know Dylans story next and what happens to him has got me itching for this book. Loved loved this second book in the series and absolutely loving this series.

Audio Forbid Me (The Good Ol’ Boys #2) narrated by Lauren Sweet Logan McAllister

Carrying on from where then first book left us but this one flips between present and future and is told in a dual POV. It tells of the forbidden love between Jacob and Lilley (Lucas\’s little sister). Apart from being the sister of one of his best friends, there\’s also the 7 year age difference to overcome. Again this spans a couple of decades as they start their journey of forbidden love, fighting the attraction they have for each other. I loved complicate me from the very start and I was intrigued to hear Jacob\’s story. I devoured this book in a day. I completely lost track of time! This story runs concurrent with Lucas and Alex\’s story so it does repeat itself slightly but is necessary as the 5 main characters lives are interwoven through the time frame. I love M. Robinson\’s style of writing and this is the first series I have starting reading by her and I will definitely be reading her other series. She writes gritty, down to earth characters. It\’s also a coming of age romance. Whilst the book is promoted as being a stand alone, I would suggest reading them all in order due to the fact that the lives of the characters do spill over in to the other books. Loved loved loved this book and I would definitely read again.

Forbid Me is the second in the series of The Good Ol\’ Boys. Each book focuses on a different couple, but it does help to read each book in order. As you get back some of the story in each book. So when starting I was unsure if I was gonna like Jacob, because I thought of him as a hypocrite after everything with Bo & Half-Pint, but the more I read on the more I realise I love him. You get all the angst again from Complicate Me, but it\’s different this time. Forbid Me is told from the past and present times, both from Jacob and Lillian(Lily\’s ) points. This sees Lily being in love with of one her older brothers best friends, that\’s one problem, but there is also the age gap. Jacob had been around Lily since she was a baby, he watched her grow up, then when his feeling changed his love grew into a different kind of love, one he struggled to deal with. We get a wee insight into Forbid Me at the end of Complicate Me, however nothing could prepare you for all the feeling this book would envoke. You find out how Jacob and Lily spent the three years apart, and you get the back story of their relationship. You see Lily growing up into a brilliant sassy woman, you see her deal with something heartbreaking that was also prominent from Complicate Me, but most of all you see her deal with her love of Jacob, even with all the hurt she never stops loving him. Jacobs back story is also heartbreaking, which is why it endears you to him so much. The turmoil of falling in love with his best friends baby sister. You feel the sadness as he wars with his head and his heart. It\’s a case of doing what he thinks should be right and what his heart wants. The way the story is told, it doesn\’t make Jacob seedy and you don\’t feel it\’s wrong. Sometimes you can\’t help who you love. Like Complicate Me it was like star crossed lovers, you couldn\’t help feel they should be together. The book is a must read from start to finish, I couldn\’t put it down. The way the story has been told just draws you and makes you feel what the characters are feeling and I love how it all interconnected with the first book. It also make you understand more of why somethings happened in the first book. Forbid me is a poignant story of a forbidden coming of age story of falling in love with the right person, at what maybe could be considered the wrong time. A teaser into Dylan and Aubreys story was at the end,all I can say is I need it,like now.. I was given an Arc in return from my honest option.
