I LOVE this series. Love it. This is another example of a series that just keeps getting better with each book. I felt like I was settling in with old friends, and old enemies.
I am seriously attached to some of these, yet some just keep disappointing me. I can never tell which one is good and which one is evil. Ones I want to hate, I find myself not hating them as much as I use to….Oh this story is so AMAZING!!!
Cleo: I don’t even know what to think of her right now. She is so frustrating! Being married to Magnus has not made her less frustrating but more. hehe. Magnus and Cleo may have to face death when King Gaius returns to Mytica, for treason. I cannot wait to see how this story continues!
Magnus: Gosh! He is such a great character to have a love/hate relationship with. He is evil, then kind, then evil. He just cannot make up his bi-polar mind on what type of man he wants to be. But he is such a fascinating character. He is so complex. Which is why I don’t know whether to love or hate him. :).
Lucia: Let just say she puts a whole new spin on the word CRAZY. There may even need to be a new category for her crazy. She makes me mad on so many levels, which I think makes for some great writing. When an author can bring so many feeling out of me, it just brings the character more to life for me. Rhodes definitely knows how to write crazy character :).
Jonas: I still love him. I loved him from the very beginning. I have wanted to smack him on the side of his head several times, for being so oblivious to the people, and feeling around him. BUT, he is such a great character. He may be the only “good” guy in this whole series….BUT #2 the series is not over, and he has time to be a love/hate character as well. No one is safe in Rhodes books :). I mean that in the best possible way! Every character fascinates me because I never know where their choices are going to take them.
King Gaius: EVIL. Evil….Evil. There is absolutely no question what this so called King is. Evil might be even too kind a word to use for him. I loathe this character. Which again makes for some awesome writing! I mean Rhodes did such an amazing job with all of her characters. I, don’t even know how to put my feeling for this character into words other than EVIL!
There are some awesome side characters in this book as well. The whole series is full of them. I love the world that Rhodes has built in these novels. I love the struggles. I love the triumphs. I love everything about this series, and this book especially. I am anxiously awaiting the next novel in the series. I hope it keeps up it’s momentum, and finishes strong.
Well done Rhodes…..Well done!

Frozen Tides audiobook in series Falling Kingdoms
OMG…. that ending left me totally flabbergasted!
Oh, Mrs. Rhodes… you can’t end a book like that! I was totally in shock, going back and forth making sure this was the last page in the book!
One thing is for sure: this is the most unpredictable series EVER! No one is safe! No matter how important you may think a character is, he or she may die with the flick of a page…
Fast pacing once again with not a dull page in sight. Each chapter is more shocking than the previous one! The revelations keep on coming, changing the story continuously. New alliances are formed and then are broken just like that. Some of the characters gain more power and play a bigger part in the plot. The Kraeshia kingdom is added on the map, and new characters are added in the story making it even more interesting and compelling!
For me Magnus is still the most interesting character. I’ve come to seriously dislike Lucia. And at one point I started to sympathize with Amara and start to connect with her, only to dislike her even more in the next chapter! The author likes to play with your feelings like that and make you change your mind continously.
I’ll only make one comment about this series… All women are breathtakingly gorgeous and Jonas doesn’t know how to keep his eyes off them! He seems to like another woman in each chapter… which makes me like him less sometimes.
I’ll say it again that this is one of my most favourite series EVER, and I think that if you like fantasy books, then you should definitely include this one in your reading list ASAP! There are 2 more books left in this series, one coming out this year and the last one in 2017. All I can do now, is wait…..!
Favourite Quotes:
‘I tried to spit on him, you know, to show my support for the rebels, but it landed on a seabird instead.’
‘Go. But remember one thing: If you get yourself killed, I’m going to be furious with you.’
‘See? There’s that cheeky rebel I like.’
‘You like me? That’s news to me, Cassian.’
‘You’re growing on me. Slowly. Like a fungus.’
You broke it. Congratulations. Youve just given me my sixth broken nose, and now Im going to kill you.
Because if you don’t choose to fight against the wrong in the world, then you are the wrong in the world.
All magic comes with a price. A price that is never revealed until after the damage has been done.

Audiobook Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes
This novel hurt. If you have formed any attachment to any character at all, which you should have if you’ve made it four books in, then this is a painful ride no matter which way you look at it. This fourth instalment treads the line between brave and predictable almost perfectly, with shock events and the occasional expected outcome. In that way it essentially satisfies your need to have what you want, whilst also being happy that the author is brave enough to not give you all of it every time.
Now that the elemental crystals are scattered it’s really anyone’s game. Frozen Tides mostly focuses upon Lucia and Jonas’ respective stories, which don’t really align but eventually cross, and how any or all of the characters intend to get hold of another or unlock the magic within them. This is, I think, the first novel in the Falling Kingdoms series to actually have all characters interact at some stage throughout the story – and I loved it! There are some really significant moments which change the course of events, but also a complete overhaul of personality types because of those events; I genuinely have no idea where this is going.
Once again this series captures my attention completely. I love the characters, the world and the magic and the more of each of those things that Morgan Rhodes introduces, the more I grow to love it. I feel genuine sadness when we lose a character, anger when a character gets burned (sometimes literally!) and true investment in the relationships between them all.
Frozen Tides made me laugh and cry. A uniquely brilliant series. I’m dreading what happens next.

Audio Frozen Tides narrated by Fred Berman
Finally got round to reading this! One of the best series out there since Harry Potter. Morgan Rhodes is a fantastic writer that has you instantly engaged with each character but the plot is intense and fast paced without lacking a strong story arc and character progression. Characters I thought I hated, I now love. You discover so much more.
Going to re read all the Falling Kingdom books again. Roll on Book 5.

Oh my…. what a fantastic ending!
I was starting to get frustrated that some stories weren’t unfolding when finally, out of nowhere, they did! And how epic the unfolding of events was!
I read all the first 4 books in a space of a week! The next 8 months waiting for the next book to be released will be torture!
Cannot recommend this book enough!
