There is a lot to love about this book so I’m not sure why my reaction to it is that it’s very workmanlike. It just didn’t resonate the way most of Shannon Stacey’s books do for me. Great things about Fully Ignited: -The heroine is a firefighter lieutenant. -She is clearly feminist without being “I’m not a feminist, but …”. She works hard and expects to be given the respect allowed to other firefighters. She’s not militant – she simply expects to be treated with respect and speaks up when she isn’t. -The hero is a younger man. I always love this. -The hero is concerned about a mother having a dangerous job and is open with the heroine about it. She points out that fathers are important, too, but he’s unconvinced. I like that they had the conversation like adults, which is a hallmark of SS’s writing. -Both characters are a mess during the tension before the HEA. This is also very common in SS books and I like that her heroes have emotional depth. Didn’t like: -the insta uncontrollable attraction So much to like! What happened? It might have been the insta uncontrollable attraction. It’s a plot mechanism in many books that saves the author from having to write scenes in which the MCs get more and more attracted to each other. I wasn’t expecting it in a Shannon Stacey book.

Fully Ignited audiobook in series Boston Fire

Jaime and Scott – the temp LT in the firehouse and the womanizer taking a break so he can gear up for finding a wife. Jaime is not the wife material he had in mind; her job is as dangerous as his; she’s his boss; she’s on temporary assignment for six weeks and yet… Scott also acknowledges the irony of his situation comparing it to his best friend Aiden’s, when Aiden had to hide his relationship to Scott’s sister from Scott. (It’s complicated, LOL, read the first book, you won’t be sorry) He and Jaime have unexpected, strong chemistry – so strong, they’re each willing to break the spoken and unspoken rules of the firehouse, of employment and their personal rules. What could go wrong? Again, a Boston based romance that had me feeling like I knew these people, or people like them, and felt like I was back home. These characters all feel like real people I’d run into at Doyles or some other restaurant-bar. I hope future readers have as much of a happy dance I did!

Audiobook Fully Ignited by Shannon Stacey

Scottt Kincaid has problems. After seeing his Lieutenant marry his sister Ashley and his best friend Aiden with his other sister Lydia, Scottt decided he wanted the marriage and family thing himself. Since the women he had been dating did not meet his criteria for a potential spouse. He stopped dating. Instead, he began looking for spouse potential in any woman who attracted him – so far with no success. Then Lieutenant Jamie Rutherford was assigned to Engine 59 as a temporary replacement for Lt. Danny, who is out with serious injuries. Jamie is quite determined to ever be involved with a subordinate. That could be devastating to the reputation she has carefully built as an outstanding firefighter worthy of her advancement through Boston Fire. She fought the tingle she felt the first time she met Scott, but it kept getting stronger. Meanwhile Scott, always a stickler for the rules, caved almost immediately. Since Jamie was only there temporarily, Scott decided the rules didn’t really apply – they could have a fling while she was with Engine 59. It wasn’t long before he convinced Jamie to embark on a “secret” fling – they would tell no one about it – although neither of them was quite comfortable lying about their relationship. A few weeks later, Ashley and Lydia asked Jamie to join them in a shopping trip and girls’ night. When Jamie acted surprised at their questions about her relationship with their brother, Lydia pointed out that it was no secret – they had known that Scott and Jamie had been sleeping together for weeks. Obviously, their secret was out. Along with the romance, Fully Ignited includes enough of the daily activities of the firefighters to help the reader understand the stress of being a firefighter – or the wife or girlfriend of one. The old Engine 59 code of not dating sisters, ex-wives or ex-girlfriends of fellow firefighters still haunted Scott. Similarly, the discomfort of dating her subordinate shadowed Jamie. And when Scott refused to obey a direct order from Lieutenant Rutherford during a fire call, their relationship exploded. This is a good sequel to Heat Exchange, the first book of this series. The Kincaid family and the engine 59 team make for a comfortable afternoon read. The style of continuing and expanding both the Kincaid family and the Engine 59 family leads this reader to ask for more.

Audio Fully Ignited narrated by Tatiana Sokolov

I have always loved Shannon Stacey’s form of writing. It has humor, wittiness, snarkyness, love, family, and lots of great characters. Jamie has worked real hard to get to where she is now in a man dominated field. She has become a lieutenant in the fire department. She is normally a float lieutenant, however this time she is filling in for Walsh who gets seriously hurt and needs time to recover. However she never thought she would fall for one of her fire fighters. She has always kept it professional. It has always been her rule, however Scott is tempting her to break it and so much more! Scott has sworn off dating. He sees his sisters and others around him having wives, husbands, and children. He wants that for himself. He is also trying to get rid of his playboy title that is well known to all. Little did he know that he will find the love of his life in the form of his boss. Jamie and Scott try real hard to stay away from each other. They eventually succumb to their feelings and sparks fly. They have agreed to keep it only during their off time, and when on duty they keep it professional. However with the job that they have, how long does that last? When does Scott not listen to his superior officer and let his feelings get in the way? Jamie and Scott are one hot couple! I also loved that we got to see all the other characters and the rest of the Kincaid clan in this story. Loved the book!!

Another enjoyable story in this series. This one featuring firefighters Scotty Kincaid and Jamie Rutherford. Who arrives at Engine 59 as temporary Lieutenant. As for the story, it was sweet, with some hot moments and lots of likable characters. And I hope there will be more to come from this series in the future; and I would happily recommend this one to others.
