I. Am. Breathless!!! I’m trying to put into words exactly how much I love this book. I can’t. I’m sorry. So you’ll have to excuse how lame this review is in comparison to how PHENOMENAL this book is. I’ve never screamed (Out loud. In bed. Late at night. Sleeping husband wasn’t thrilled but I don’t even care.) in shock so many times as the bombs just kept dropping! BAM! BAM! BAM! I realized so many times that I was holding my breath as I was reading. It all ended with my bawling my eyes out and I can’t imagine any other ending. I loved every character. Then I didn’t. Then I did. The twists just kept coming and coming!!! And it’s REALLY difficult to shock me with as many thrillers as I read. This just might have the best ending of any book I’ve ever read. I’ve just ordered Aimee Molloy’s debut novel, The Perfect Mother, without even reading the description because if she wrote with a fraction of the talent in that one as she did in Goodnight, Beautiful, I’ll be giving that one ten stars. I wish I could give this book a zillion stars because that’s what it deserves. Goodnight, Beautiful has skyrocketed to the very top of my list of books to recommend. I cannot thank Harper Books enough for allowing me the incredible privilege of reading this book in advance!

Your weekend awaits with an unputdownable thriller full of twists and the darkest humor. Lovebirds and newlyweds who celebrate their anniversary on a weekly basis have just settled into their new home in upstate New York to be closer to his mother who is in a retirement home. A psychologist, he just opened a private practice back in his hometown. She is a professor at a local university. So quaint. When he goes missing one evening on his way to meet his wife, she doesn’t believe the rumors that he’s simply left town. He must be in danger. Don’t even try to guess who amongst the plethora of equally unreliable characters is the culprit, just give in to the wild ride you are in for and enjoy every single cunning wave that Molloy is taking you on. I read it as slowly as possible because I did not want it to end. Which, if you are a devotee to a psychological thriller, you know is extremely challenging, but with this book, it was my promise of a good night of beautiful reading.

Audiobook Goodnight Beautiful by Aimee Molloy
I took a chance on this book because I love psychological thrillers although most of them don’t live up to the hype. I almost passed on this one because I rarely pay this much for a book. But I let myself be swayed by all of the five star reviews and I’m glad I did. I’m not so sure I would call this a psychological thriller, but never mind. If a reader picked up this book without knowing anything at all about it, he/she might wonder where It’s headed. When you get to page 92 to be exact, the rug gets pulled out from under you. You realize that nothing is what you thought. And that’s where the real story begins. If you like a good mystery, filled with unforeseeable twists and turns , this is the book to read, even at a hefty price tag.

Audio Goodnight Beautiful narrated by George Newbern Joel Froomkin Marin Ireland Val Toomey
Spoiler free. Because I knew there’s a twist, I had two working theories as to possibilities for subterfuge. One was debunked going into Part Two, and the other was revealed to be true halfway through. So then I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to be surprised. I did keep circling around possibilities, but could never land on anything concrete. Well let me tell you, I got surprised not once, but twice. I was more taken aback by the first reveal than the second, but they were both great additions to the story. This author is clever. This author is smart (learned some new words). And I love that I got caught off guard, because that rarely happens for me. This story is told in alternating perspectives. Won’t say who narrates each because I want to avoid spoilers. All of the perspectives were interesting. All of the characters are fleshed out and believable. I love how the author kind of breaks the fourth wall by having characters openly discuss common themes/stereotypes/archetypes that readers regularly come across in this genre. I’m very, very pleased with this novel. It was a great ride with a satisfying conclusion.

I no longer pay attention to the NY Times Best Seller because notice what book isn\’t…I paid $3.99 for this book and I would still like my $ back…more importantly the time wasted …trust me people if you have read or seen the movie Misery….then don\’t waste your time on this book…should you choose to find out for yourselves if this review does get posted you will remember my review….I never read Misery and didn\’t care for the parts of the movie I did see…this is nothing but a rip off……..what\’s wrong with the reader\’s today? You all know if these are real reviews that it starts off interesting then turns into noting but misery. And I never want to read again about silly endings…92 million yeah, right
