$2.99 for 69 pages of an incomplete story. I love this author, always have. But this new trend sucks and I wish I had not bothered to buy this piece of a future book.

I have been reading Christina Dodds books for a long time. Pretty sure I have read them all. I read Dead Girl Running. And liked it well enough to buy this little novella. LITTLE. And a ridiculous story. I understand \”suspend your disbelief\” in the face of fiction, but. This plot. The writing was painful to read. Nothing like CD\’S usual prose. An obvious ploy to make money off of her loyal readers with what was likely two hours of work. Shameful. And unnecessary. I already read all her books. That may change now. Disappointing to say the least.

Audiobook Hard to Kill (Cape Charade #0.5) by Christina Dodd
Bought it. Read it…..all 69 pages. Just buy the follow up novel and spare your self from this rip off. If it was important then it should have been included in the original novel. I\’ve been following this author since her first novel. I\’m surprised at this.

Audio Hard to Kill (Cape Charade #0.5) narrated by Vanessa Johansson
Kellen Adams is a remarkable woman. She lead her troop in Afghanistan. Kellen was in the process of being medically discharged because during her last tour of duty the Humvee she was in was caught in a land mine explosion; she was injured and her driver H Hackett lost his leg. As she was getting readu to be discharged her plans were waylaid, by General Slater. He had other plans for her. She was going to be coder and treasure hunter for the armed forces. Her goal was to decode a book the General received which described a cave in Germany that held many Masterpieces. She had to break that code, get the works of art and receive the reward for finding them. Unfortunately, you can not trust everything you see and face value is sometimes very evil.

The novella “Hard to Kill” is book #1 in Christina Dodd’s newest series, Cape Charade. The h is US Army Capt Kellen Adams who while serving in Kuwait as part of a transport convoy was ambushed & seriously injured. As she is awaits her medical discharge in Germany, her commanding officer, Gen. Slater pulls her into a non-official, private search for several priceless stolen paintings from WWII, clues to which have recently come to his attention. In “Hard to Kill,”we learn that due to an even older physical head injury, Kellen’s mind computes incoming details and information, such as the identity of people in her midst, as data – much as a computer might. Such a “gift” assists her daily in processing minute details others might overlook and to function extremely efficiently, but the injury also causes debilitating migraines. There are also hints of another past trauma which eats at her emotionally. “Hard to Kill” does a great job introducing Kellen Adams’ character for the second book in the Cape Charade series, “Dead Girl Running”, which follows. I am looking forward to reading Christina Dodd’s Cape Charade series – it looks to be very good.
