You cannot add magic and fairies to your series after 7 books of realistic historical fiction, with people that actually lived. You just can’t do that. If there had been literally ANY mention of the fae or anything like that in any of the previous 7 books, then it would make sense. But it’s ridiculous.
Then there’s Lina. I don’t understand how someone who’s raised around strong women can be so weak. I thought back through the other books, and I don’t recall many instances of her being treated like a stupid child, which is what this book insinuates. “Oh, your mom and brothers have always babied you, that’s why you can’t stand up for yourself.” I’m sorry, what?! I can’t believe this is the same series with women like Gwyneth and Brenna.
I couldn’t even finish it. The first 7 books are fine, this one was garbo.

1.5 stars.

I am so greatful this is the last book of the series. There is so much I disliked abut this book I don’t know where to begin.

First, I hated the hero Drew. He was a manwhore and even after meeting Avelina, he took a wench in the kitchen. This strikes out at my biggest pet peeves. Granted he didn’t “cheat” but he still had feelings for her and did what he did. The lame ass excuse of.. well he did it because he wanted Avelina and couldn’t have her cause she innocent just doesn’t wash with me. I also hated the lame ass heroine (Avelina) for forgiving him because a man has needs. Please, spare me. She should have dropped him then and there. She was just as lame as the hero IMHO.

As for the writing, the dialogue is at times childish and immature, there are too many inconsistancies in the storyline than I care to detail, and the characters are flat and uninteresting, having no personality.

Another thing that was irritating, was the authors failure of creating a dislikable antagonist. I didn’t hate him but felt sorry for him. In fact I was hoping the heroine would have married him instead of the hero. SHe prtrays him as abused by his parents, all his life. Ridiculed by his clan members for no reason. A man only seeking to gain the attention and love of his parents. Yet he is constantly getting punched in the face by the “hero” who is more of a piece of s*** than the antagoinst.

I also tire of all the filler about the 200 clan childtren and the useless boring activites of the family life. How much can one read about a swimming in a loch?

The epilogue was better than in the last book, at least it was about the main characters.

The romance was meh close to non existant, and the one love scene was at the very end and also meh.

I will read only 1 more of her books which I already purchased, and if it sucks as much as these past few have, I will no longer purchase her books any more. I am done with LeVeque and Montclair is soon to be off my list of author as well.

Audiobook Highland Harmony: Avelina and Drew (Clan Grant #8) by Keira Montclair

What to say. Keira has done it again. Adeline and Drew’s story is beautiful. I loved it. Love all the bairns, loved little Gregor talking. They are all so prescious. I loved having them all together toward the end, the fun swing on the rope over the loch. The way that Gwyneth showed up Logan. Her swing and jump into the loch was so cool. It was a wonderful ending to the series for the first generation of Grants and Ramsey’s. Can’t wait for the bairns stories to start.

I will admit that I laughed and yes I cried (a lot) through reading it. My husband thinks I’m crazy. He’s like what’s wrong? Did something happen to one of the kids, your mom, sister. When I just sat there and tried to explain. He rolled his eyes said you and your books and walked away. He just doesn’t understand.

When you go through the emotions that match the pages of the book, laughter, crying, anger, etc. Feeling all these emotions you know that the author is awesome. As they touched your life and make you feel as if you are actually a part of the story.

If anyone is looking for a awesome great new author. Look no further. You need to read her books. All of Keira’s books are like this one. She never fails to make you laugh and cry and always leaves you hoping that the next book is coming really soon.

Audio Highland Harmony: Avelina and Drew (Clan Grant #8) narrated by Paul Woodson

She has done it again. Keira Montclair is a wonderful story teller. This entire series has been great, they make you cry and laugh and she writes about such strong women who don’t realize they are as strong as they think they are. Avelina is the youngest of the Ramsey Clan and has 3 older brother’s who protect her and scare the hell out of most of the men in the Scotland. Her brother Quade is a Laird, Logan, well what can we say about Logan, he works for the Scottish crown and Micheil is married to a Women Laird. But even as protected as she is, they can’t protect her from everything. Drew Menzie- Lina first saw him as a young girl and has never forgotten him. Her dark knight! Drew is drawn to the comely Lina and he has never forgotten her either. Drew is trying to prove himself as well and never expected to fall in love! I am so sorry to see this series finished, but await the next series with the Grant & Ramsey’s Barins.

Although the fairy stuff kind of threw me, it fit the characters. It was filled with fantasy but also with strong characters. Avelina and Drew were written wonderfully. Drew has a dark past to deal with and Avelina has to find her self worth. Together they were unstoppable. I also loved all the families together. I am excited that Ms Montclaire had started another series for all the children. I don’t want this series to end, but I look forward to the next!
