His as Payment (Mafia Masters #1)

I’d give 1 star, but it did start off strong so it earns 2. I could not get through this book. A book has to be pretty boring and bad for me to skim through to the end. Caroline annoyed the crap out of me. Even in the very beginning I wasnt drawn or empathized with her character. She was just there. Dominick was a good character in the beginning then he just started to go downhill. I got about 50% then couldnt take it anymore. I wouldnt recommend this book. There are better ones out there. I most likely wont continue with the series.

This book is stilted in it’s writing. Editing is poor. These make the storyline even worse. Gaps in story that make it makes no sense. Female lead is an idiot thinking she is brilliant. And I’m not even talking about the “punishments”. (Punishment for what? Doing what he wanted? Why didn’t he just say “it’s time to hit/spank you because it turns you on”?) I knew it would be a sexy, maybe BDSM story but wanted it to”flow, scene too scene” make sense and not have so many grammatical errors. I honestly would have thrown it away if it was a paper book. I read it through since I’d paid for it. The ending made it 1 star instead of 0. Don’t make my mistake.

I loved this book. I loved every moment of this story. I wanted more pages when I reached the end. This was one of those books where I started reading slower and slower not wanting to this book to end. I was thrilled to get to read another mafia book and this one was a fresh take on the what could have been a standard book. I am also thrilled to have found this author. She has serious writing chops and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Thank you for making this book available in paperback. I look forward for book two to be made available in paperback and I will be first in line to purchase. I also can’t wait to read more of your work. Amazing writing! denise bailey

Wouldn’t really call this a dark read.

Dominick is the son of a mafia kingpin who has become obsessed with the beautiful Caroline, daughter of a US senator about to announce his candidacy for president. But Dominick knows quite a few of the senators dirty secrets. In exchange for turning Caroline over to Dominick, Dominick will keep quiet. Caroline hates Dominick and fights him tooth and nail. But she guiltily finds herself overwhelmingly attracted to him. This is no run of the mill mafia romance. The plot is intricate with twists and turns I didnt see coming. It is over the top passionate and steamy. Can Caroline find the man so in need of love beneath all the layers of anger and hate? I did not want to put this book down and hated to see it end. Piper Stone knows how to captivate the reader and spin the story into life. Fantastic read!
