Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush #1)

Such a great book, with very steamy sex scenes. I did not see the twist coming at all. The character development was incredible. This is one of my favorite books of 2020 for sure. I am really looking forward to the follow up novella, Say Yes to come to audible!!

The beginning build up of the plot was a bit tiresome. I was wondering just how long it was going to take before something actually started happening. At first, I did like Aubrey. But, then she started and just kept doing things that made no sense. Why would you keep working at a job you supposedly had moral issues with after the money was no longer needed? Why would you string along a boyfriend who\’s main requirement was honesty and faithfulness? And why continue doing both of those things when you are supposedly in love with Someone else AND you\’re being paid $ 10 million not to ??? Her character became such a contradiction I was done with her, much like everyone else. I loved James. Although he was married, he was at least honest about what he was doing. Aubrey wasn\’t honest with a single person. She was selfish and greedy. She used everyone and nothing about her rang sincere. The narration was \”Okay,\” It would\’ve been much better if a male narrator had been included as well. The book was very long. In the beginning, I had periods of boredom. Then for a short while the passion and angst was engaging. But it didn\’t take long before I became irritated with Aubrey\’s shenanigans and I was just angry for the last couple hours of the book thinking about the 14 hours I had wasted. Nothing, absolutely nothing, she did made sense. There was nothing redeemable about her in my opinion. Who wants to spend 14 hours hearing a story about someone you realize you couldn\’t care less about?

This book and the narration was fantastic and left my heart feeling so full. <3

This is a new author for me. I’ll be looking into her entire library. The story was unique and had some imperfect decisions made by the characters which made the story have more depth. It wasn’t so perfect, matchy-matchy. It was well-written and very enjoyable. It had steam but it wasn’t the hearts and flowers kind. I wish the follow up novella was available on Audible. The narrator did an outstanding job with this book. I will definitely be following her. Her differentiation between characters, pacing, enunciation and cadence were superb. Overall, five stars. If you’re looking for soft, smushy hearts and flowers, this may not be the one for you. If you’re looking for something different, interesting, a bit steamy and unique, give this a try. I’m certainly glad I did.

I tried. I really did. Looks like if I ever want to finish this book I’ll have to read it myself because the narrator is awful! I can’t even say if the story is good or not at this point.
