Michael J. Sullivan has the skill and talent to describe criminals as heroes in his novels. The author has done this successfully in many of his books in the past. Novels such as Theft of Swords and FREE: Professional Integrity (A Riyria Chronicles Tale) were handled masterly well. Assuming that Michael selects his heroes out of the ordinary is incorrect because even though the author selects from the evildoers his heroes always got some special talents.
Royce and Hadrian are given another mission in which they have to find a Jester’s treasure. Finding the treasure is not easy for the Riyria because they have to deal with a cunning dwarf who can outsmart anyone.
THE JESTER (A RIYRIA CHRONICLES TALE) audiobook free
Traps are set against the band and although it is a jester’s treasure no one is laughing during the mission at least not from the core of his heart. Getting out of the traps set against them is the priority for the two thieves. The second one of course is locating the treasure for the one who has hired them this time.
Just like the previous part, there were not a lot of fighting scenes for Tim Gerard Reynolds to narrate rather thrilling escapes and breathtaking narrow escapes were present. During the early period of their lives when Royce was a thief and Hadrian was a mercenary they never thought that earning livelihood would one day become this much tough for them. Now even when they steal it is not a personal goal rather they do it for the person who hires them. Good thing is that the two are shown to be loyal to their job and never think of getting more than what is promised to them.
