Infinity Chronicles (Infinity Chronicles #3)

In a slow whirlwind of house renovation, reception planning, art class and some ability training, book three is engagingly uneventful, mostly focused on relationships and nesting. Its a pretty domestic story for a fantasy series.

Happily, this book explains more about the characters and their abilities in what feels like a reader Q&A session. Some of this information could have been shared more naturally through events, rather than one conversation. Whatever the delivery, filling the large information gaps adds some depth to the world-building and character development for the series.

Plot-wise, nothing much advances with the larger mystery of this series about the heroines past and mother. This book did give me a fright when I thought the heroine, Laura, was going to fall into damsel stupidity for an obvious cliffhanger. Thankfully that trope is sidestepped, and Laura recovers some sense.

The book has its warm moments with good dynamics between the characters. The decent writing adds realism or dimension to the interactions and events, which is far more noticeable with editing. Surprisingly, the art projects in this series resonate. Methinks, Albany has taught art at some point.

The heroes are engaging with more focus on Ollie and Milo, to balance out earlier books. As gorgeous as they are, the heroes remain pretty one-dimensional, with only some more depth to the characters of Ares and Dante. I guess that is hard to fix mid-series.

I do wonder how this reverse harem, while accepted in the fantasy world creation, can work in the ordinary school setting. After the relationships are willingly partly outed in this book, I expect writing the school life of the next book with any realism will be tough.

Overall, this book improves the series through more developed characters and relationships, despite limited action.

Three stars for a warm fantasy romance.
