These covers just keep getting better and better!! I fell so in love with the first one and this one is even more gorgeous! This story picks up and were off on a new story by King. I have to say that over the years a few author stick out more than others and King is definitely one of those. Her stories are just so engaging and vivid that when I start one I just can’t put it down! Where book one has us set from one country to an island this one expands the world into seven worlds and man o man I can not wait for another installment. I think this could be one of those really long series that each stands on its own as a stellar title. I know that we only have one more title with this series but I really hope that chances and we get one for each of the worlds. I think that this world is just so vast and beautiful that I just don’t want to leave it behind.
If you loved book one then you will fall head over heels with this one. It has the romance between Everley and Jamison blooming even more and other characters are back for even more of them. Everything was just pretty perfect in this second installment of The Evermore Chronicles and I need more NOW!!

Another amazing adventure in the Evermore Chronicles that will keep you guessing until the last page!
What I loved :
1. The prologue explains that the sword is really a broken star and Everley thinks she is a broken girl because of her clock heart. Everleys character development is truly beautiful as she realizes that just because bad things have happened to hershes not broken. Her potential is still endless.
2. The fantasy world expands to seven worlds and the reader learns Killian Markhams true ancestry and villainy. The reader also learns more about Father Time and the different races.
3. Jamison continues to be everything honorable and good. Their romance blooms like a daisy.
4. Laverick and Claret get more page time and theyre both delightful.
5. I loved the theme that time is love and love is time.
Im SO ready to sail into the final book, Everafter Song!

Audiobook Into the Hourglass (The Evermore Chronicles #2) by Emily R. King
I have listened to Emily Kings series of the 100th Queen and also other books done by the narrator. How can anyone listen to the constant yelling, screaming, mean heartedness of clock girl with everyone who she interacts with? More then 80% of the audible book is done in screaming madness towards all her friends, family, husband and gods that she interacts with. She is unkind and mistrustful towards everyone. I feel sorry for the narrator that her performance had to be one of such cruelty towards all. Other books that she has done haven’t put her into that type of performance. Her voice must be raw after reading this out. If you get the audible book set the speed at .75. It helps taper down the wild mad dash of listening. It could of been a good book by Emily King if the performance wasn’t such a hatefulness towards all the character by Clock Girl. Hope the next book is better performance for the customers

Audio Into the Hourglass (The Evermore Chronicles #2) narrated by Lauren Ezzo
I wanted to like this book more than I did. The concept and potential are great, and there are many moments that the story lives up to it. But it still feels as though it misses the mark. The writing style feels too short and matter of fact. There’s a lack of warmth and flow in the narration.
The main character has become grating, as well. Too much of the tension and drama are driven by her inability to properly communicate and tell the truth about whatever is going on in the moment. Her own lack of self worth, despite the fact that you have Father Time and other beings tell her of the importance she carries has also grown annoying. Totally understand part of this is a result of trauma and how her character is responding to these situations, but after two full books, I can’t help but roll my eyes when she thinks/says/acts in such a repetitive way.
I think I’ll continue reading as the story is interesting and I am hopeful for more in depth character development.

I love the feeling of modern fairy tale that King brings to this series. We started somewhere between King Arthur and Alice in Wonderland. Now we are out to sea–or under it. The amazing detailing King writes put me in mind of The Little Mermaid but way cooler, and we get some Pinocchio too.
I enjoyed the pirate world so I was sad when The Fox and The Cat just felt forced into the story. Their existence just does not seem even remotely important for the plot at all, and it irks me greatly. It is what stops me from giving this book 5 stars (it was much better on all other fronts to Before the Broken Star). Vevina and Alick make appearances that are helpful and engaging without wearing out their welcome so I know King can do it.
The continued revenge cycle with Killian and Everley speaks of foreshadowing, and there were some definite plot twists that were surprising if not tilt-the-world-shocking. Despite Everley’s apparent cynicism, she seems to have a huge well of hope in her clockwork heart. Her character development can sometimes be a conundrum for me along with the relationship she has with Lieutenant Callahan.
