Landon & Shay: Part One (L&S Duet #1)

Landon, oh Landon! Never in a million years would I have thought that THIS is how his story was going to be. I wasn\’t sure what to think of him at first, but as the story progressed and I got to know him a little better, all I wanted to do was hug him real tight and never let go. (And then punch all these people who said bad stuff to him. You\’ll see what I mean when you read the book lol) My heart was aching for him over and over again. \”What kind of person would want to love a broken heart? What kind of person would take the time to listen to the heartbeats of something so damaged? I just hope broken hearts can receive love, too. I think us broken hearts need love the most. -L\” Thank God for Shay because WOW! While Landon may be one of the most broken heroes I\’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, Shay has to be one of the strongest heroines out there. Shay was simply amazing. It sounds so corny because I don\’t usually say sentimental stuff like this but this girl has to have the biggest heart out there. Loving and kind, she did a great job of simply being there for Landon whenever he had a hard time. The perfect heroine to our hero. Thank you Brittainy C. Cherry for creating such an incredible character. Shay is now officially one of my favorite heroines. Everything sounds fine and dandy, right? Well, I would be lying if I said I didn\’t have any struggles. In all honesty, I wasn\’t fully invested in the story. At first. I think, just knowing that this book is part of a duet – that I wouldn\’t get a conclusion by the end of this book – is the reason why I felt like I was reading a very long prologue to the actual story, but this is probably just a me-thing. Part one is about their teenage years and I\’m someone who likes to get to the present asap. On top of that, the beginning was kinda slow for me. It took about 40% until things in the romance department finally advanced, and it wasn\’t until the 70% mark where I finally found myself completely immersed in the story. But, the last 30% y\’all! It wasn\’t much but when things got good, it became PHENOMENAL. They made up for A LOT. I loved it. LOVED IT! Brittainy C. Cherry put my heart through the wringer and then put it back together again. Everything was so freaking good even though I ended up a mess lol. \”How\’s your heart?\” \”Still beating.\” And now excuse me so I can go back to Eleanor & Grey and read all the scraps of Landon & Shay as grown-ups. I can not wait for Part Two!

Landon Harrison is a popular rich kid, handsome with a bad boy attitude. Shannon Gable (Shay) is pretty with her sparkling chocolate brown eyes, bright smile, laughing, and always happy. They\’re two high school students who hate each other, for no other reason, then they each think the other, has a perfect life, that was until the bet! Brittainy Cherry has a way of sucking her readers into her dramas, making us invested in her characters and their outcomes. Personally, this story gave me flashbacks into my life as a teenager, the struggles and issues are real. My emotions were all over the place, swinging from one extreme to another. From tears running down my face, blubbering, then sobbing, to laughing out loud. I wish that I had a tribe like Land & Shay\’s when I was growing up. As a parent, it\’s an excellent way to pick up clues on changes in behavior. It is also a list of things not to do! After all, children do not come with an instruction booklet, but this might help you through their teenage years. Caution, have tissues handy. If you\’re wondering why a duet, trust me you will need a break after reading this heartfelt tale. Looking forward to what\’s next for these two kids! How\’s your heart today?

Oh goodness. I don\’t even know how to leave a review for this one. Both our main characters made appearances in a previous Brittainy Cherry book (Eleanor and Grey). They definitely interested me there, but I had no idea what their background was going to be. And boy was I blown away! Ms Cherry slayed me. She started with a YA book that was set all in high school about 2 characters that had to make a bet. And that bet would lead two enemies that hated one another to one of them falling in love with the other. How would this play out and how \”high school\” would we get?? Yes, for all intended purposes, this book was a YA book. But please don\’t let that hinder you. It was filled with so many real and raw moments and really focused on topics that are very relevant to our youth in this day and age. Those issues hit home with me. And when Landon felt those things and let himself be seen, I was ripped right open. \”Don\’t let her read your pages, Landon. She couldn\’t have even handled my prologue.\” Two characters that seemingly had \’perfect\’ lives were thrown together and they allowed one another to see the inside. And their insides were by no means perfect. Landon had me feeling so many emotions and rooting for him. He wasn\’t Satan. He wasn\’t the bad boy everyone thought he was. His heart beat like everyone else\’s, his just had a different rhythm. Luckily for him, he had people that loved him, even when he felt like no one was there for him. And Shay was a light in the darkness. She COULD see inside people. She was blessed with a kindness that no one has to have, but she did. These two made me feel so much and I was pulling for them as individuals and as friends. Just when I thought I didn\’t need to hear more of their story, I was proven wrong. I needed to know ALL of it and I understood why Ms Cherry needed to make this into a duet. These two had to show how their younger lives and circumstances would mold them into the adults they will become. I cannot wait to read the next book to see where their journey brings them. \”I love you in the light and in the dark. I love you like a whisper and like a shout. I love your good days and your bad days, and I…love…you. All of you. Every single piece.\” If you want an: enemies to lovers great conversation full of relevant, yet hard topics ALL. THE. FEELS You\’ve got this book. And I cannot imagine what\’s to come in book two. Where these two lives end up. Just please don\’t rip me apart much more. I need to be left with a beating heart, Brittainy. These two and their families made me feel all the emotions and made me root for characters that became a part of me. I\’m counting on the beautiful writing and two amazing characters to keep me laughing and keep me on edge of all my feelings in book two. Just don\’t keep me down. I need to see this to the end, and where this relationship and friendship goes. \”if you think anyone in this world doesn\’t have cracks, scars, and a story, then you\’re not looking close enough. We weren\’t brought into this world to be perfect, we were brought here to be human. To live. To feel. To hurt. To love. To cry. To exist.\” ^^^THAT is what you will get with book one, and I can\’t see how Ms Cherry will bring that all to book two. The beauty in the pain and the hurt is upon us and I\’m here for it .

This wonderful and everything I needed. I was tearing up the entire book! Landon has my heart and I just want to wrap him up and protect him from the world. And Shay was perfect for Landon. This book was full of so much sadness and also so much hope. I loved all of Landons friends and I wanted to throat punch every single adult in this book except for Mima. This book was a lot heavier than I thought it would be and I loved it. One of my favorite books of the year and I cant wait to read book 2. Now I have to go back and read Eleanor and Greysons book.

4.5 Spanish & English Opinion Me encanta la pareja! Shay y Landon son personajes con mucha profundidad, qumica y conexin. Sus historias no son fciles pero juntos se hacen mejores. Amo que empiecen como enemigos, pero con tanta pasin que es obvio qu hay algo ms. Momentos de tensin, romance y mucha reflexin son de lo principal que contiene el libro. I loved this couple! Shay & Landon are characters with depth, lots of chemistry and connection. Their backgrounds are full of difficulties but it makes them interesting and nice people. Together? Theyre better and stronger. Their enemies-to-lovers was pretty cool to read. Slow burn pace, angsty moments and swoony words are some of the amazing things this book provides.
