Summer of the Mariposas audiobook free
This book is AWFUL. The first four chapters were intriguing and I devoured them. Then chapter 5 hit. And the book became so bizarre that I couldn\’t tell what side was up or down. This is a Hispanic take on the Odyssey where the main character, Odelia, goes on a crazy adventure. I can see the ties to the magic and the creatures that, having read the Odyssey, are horribly predictable. I can\’t read this book. It takes me weeks to read one chapter. And I am somehow supposed to take children who already hate to read…and have them read this? Bleck. I have nothing nice to say about this story. At. All.

Many young readers experience being the oldest of their siblings, or at least having siblings, that make the characters relatable and relevant to them. The theme in Summer of the Mariposas rings true to any sibling dynamic and reveals the power in unity among siblings. In many sibling dynamics, there is fighting with one another, fighting for attention from parents, a sense independence in a dependent environment, and yet, a feeling of solidarity among the entity. Through Odilia and her sisters, readers who have siblings can attach themselves to the characters and realize the importance of bravery, justice, humility, and harmony especially in the family unit. I loved reading this book!

Audiobook Summer of the Mariposas by Guadalupe Garcia McCall
Not short of amazing! It\’s been a while since I\’ve devoured a book in days… but I couldn\’t help it all the characters & their plight sucked me in from the beginning! It was a page turner with heartwarming & suspenseful moments throughout. Loved it!

Audio Summer of the Mariposas narrated by Kyla Garcia
After a while, I just couldn\’t take this book seriously, but that actually made me like it. I wasn\’t too familiar with the mythological characters that were popping up, but the plot kept getting more and more ridiculous to the point where I was laughing. It was a fun read!
