Charming, outstanding, hilarious, andIm trying to think of another O wordorgasmic? No? With this book, maybe

I think my two favorite Colleen Hoover books are novellas. Im serious. Finding Cinderella was absolutely flawless, and I think that Maybe Not was pretty damn perfect as well. Sometimes you dont need all the extra stuff, you know. The sides and gravy, all those dressings and nonsense. Sometimes all you need is the meat, the hearty stuff that really fills and nourishes you (no offense to vegetarians youre superhuman). Maybe Not was 130 words of hearty goodness.

This novella featured two characters (who I loved!) from Maybe Someday, Warren and Bridgette. Warren is a lovable prankster, and Bridgette is, well, an unlovable bitch. Hes free and fun, and shes tense and angry. A match made in romance heaven. Out of desperation, Bridgette moves into Warrens apartment, and he finds himself battling (not very hard) not to get hard for his roommate. Of course, Bridgette hates Warren with a fiery passion, and the more heated hatred she throws his way, the hotter he burns for her, and the closer she draws him in.

The best part of this book was the sexual tension, which isnt something Ive ever said about a Colleen Hoover book. Her signature style of sass, humor and emotion was all over this one, but it was rendered even more awesome by its sexiness. Warren and Bridgettes love story went from one of playfulness and raunchiness to true connection, which I thought was romantic. I loved that I got to know more about these smaller players, and I got to fall in love with their touching love story. I read this because I wanted something entertaining to distract me for a few hours, but once Id finished I realized that hidden in this seemingly small and lightweight package was a heartfelt romance.

An entertaining short read. Im happy about the series altogether. I especially loved Maybe Now, which I read after this and it ended fabulous IMO. So this was nice to have an understanding of their backdrop before reading that.
I felt like the ending of this book came to an abrupt stop and continued with the beginning story of Maybe Someday, which makes absolutely zero sense considering thats the first installment of the series. It made the book appear longer than it was as well… Not sure why the author did that.

Audiobook Maybe Not (Maybe #1.5) by Colleen Hoover

Wow wow wow. If there is one author I am am completely fangirling over, then it is without a doubt Colleen Hoover. And what better surprise could it be than to find out about the release of this unannounced novella, a mini spin-off from Maybe Someday.

This short and sweet novella deals with Warren, who is Brennan’s and Ridge’s roommate (Ridge bring the main character of Maybe Someday). When Brennan brings in another girl into their too big apartment too room with them, Warren has mixed feelings about it. He can’t help being attracted to Bridgette, but she seems to be a total bitch. Will Warren manage to break through her walls and through the facade she built up?

Well as per usual with Colleen Hoover, this novella hooked me from the start and until the very end. While I really disliked Bridgette in Maybe Someday, Maybe Not gives you a better glimpse into her life and explains why she acts like she does. And Warren, who just came across as the crazy porn-watching roommate, now becomes a sweet and cocky boy who hopelessly falls for the roommate and does what he can to get to her.

This novella had impeccable writing, was written from a delicious make-POV only, and was absolutely sweet and romantic, funny, and… Wait for it… over the top steamy! Needless to say that I loved the hell out of this!!! Thanks Colleen for sharing with us your gift of story writing and making wonderful characters come to life in your books.

Audio Maybe Not (Maybe #1.5) narrated by Jason Carpenter

Maybe Someday stole my heart and my breath on so many occasions, but it was Warren and Bridgette who often had me chuckling to myself, giving my heart much needed respite from the emotional onslaught. The thing with Colleen Hoover’s writing is that I always, always want more, her words transport me so completely to another place that I’m always eager to revisit these friends I’ve made along the way.

Maybe Not is a novella that packs the same punch as a full length novel, and gives you how Bridgette came to live with Ridge and Warren, and how Warren slowly won over Bridgette. As I’ve come to expect from Colleen Hoover, Maybe Not was full of emotion and heart and laugh out loud moments that had me snickering to myself, revelling in this whole new side of these two characters that lifted and lightened my heart in the novel that started this journey.

Maybe Not was a sometimes hilarious, sometimes poignant and heart warming look into the depths of Warren and Bridgette’s personalities, showing not only the feisty and cantankerous nature of their relationship but the vulnerability they opened themselves up to once embarking on building on a roommate relationship.

Colleen Hoover once again proves why she is one of my favourite authors, her ability to weave a story, to build characters you care for, need to know more about, and admire is a testament to writing prowess.

Absobloodylutely loved it.

I sat and giggled all of the way through. When I read Maybe Someday in my head Warren was a bit Jack Black, archetypal funny guy with a porn obsession (not that Mr Black has a porn obsession, well I suppose he could have, he does look the type). Bridgette was a bit angry bunny boiler.

It just shows how first impressions can be so wrong.

Warren is defo a funny guy in a Jack Black stylee but he is super gorgeous too. Who would have guessed where the porn obsession came from?

Bridgette, bless her has her reasons for being a moody cow. I forgave her because her bickering with Warren was just laugh out loud funny. She gave as good as she got and he gave it back in spades.

“You kiss like you’re trying to resuscitate a dead cat,” she says disgusted. “You kiss like you are a dead cat.”

“You probably f**k like a limp noodle.” “I f**k like I’m Thor.” Baaaaaaaah.

For the record, I agree, I think Warren was more like Thor.

There isn’t what you would really call a plot, it’s more of an exploration of the characters and discovering how they came to fall for each other. I loved the way they fell in love.

“The only difference between falling in love and being in love is that your heart already knows how you feel, but your mind is too stubborn to admit it.”

“You can’t change me. Everyone wants to change me, but I am who I am, and if you think me telling you that I love you, too will make me sh*t out unicorns and rainbows, you’re wrong. I hate unicorns and rainbows.”

Colleen really cannot write a bad book. She is THAT GOOD.
