Mech 2 is the second semi-standalone book following Rade from the Atlas/Alen War/Argonaut universe. This book picks up a few years after Mech ends. I don’t think you have to read Mech to follow the story, but I think it does help for context.
In this story, Rade and some of his team are sent to capture a high ranking foreign official, and a war breaks out from there. Rade and his team take their part fighting the war, and ultimately trying to end it by confronting an old enemy from Mech. That battle scenes are fun and well thought out, and I always enjoy the interplay between the different characters. Rade’s relationship with the AI characters in this book is also a new facet not present in books before Mech and Mech 2, and I enjoy that new struggle with how Rade threats the AI’s in his team.
Overall, a really fun story. I can’t add too many more details without giving much away, but I really enjoyed this book!

This book was very disappointing because of the combat scenes. In the first combat plot, they decide to blow up all the electronics highly dense populated area well cream their captives. This makes no sense. Just lock him up in a room and keep them knocked out and call somebody when you’ve left the area. 2nd combat scene they successfully kill the note of the plant. However as I point out there not sure if it actually did kill bees node in the plant. And then leave a nuke and try to leave the scene. How do they think this particular device left in the open is going to remain functional. We’re going to do this at least camouflage it. All these massive logic failures are sent to you to advance the plot so they can do something. Simpler reasons could have been used like someone visits the farm and finds them before they get away or we hid the nuke and then found it. If you’re going to make up reasons to do something at least make it reasonable.

Audiobook Mech 2 (Mech #2) by Isaac Hooke
Just when it seems that Rade and his team have vanquished a powerful, galaxy spanning alien along with it’s terrifying ally, they find that the alien has taken root on Earth. So begins a pulse pounding adventure as the team sets out to again destroy the alien, along with it’s conniving mistress, and attempt to avoid an all-out war with the Sino-Korean’s. Add in an unexpected reunion with Race’s true love and a desperate attempt to save the “life” of his newest Mech and you have a book you’ll be unable to put down.

Audio Mech 2 (Mech #2) narrated by James Patrick Cronin
This is getting really shallow, repetitive, and clingingly boring. Even the story skeleton is the same: ludicrous improbable odds, shallow philosophical chatter, sweaty camaraderie, then all is simple and they easily complete the mission. Wtf. Definitely a non-recommendation, Im afraid.
