Project Destiny

Very awesome characters in Intrepid, Alice , Pete & Stealth. They come from different places & end up on Horus Space Station; Stealth on the PD & then the coveted Taipan Defense Group, where he meets Pete. Alice & Intrepid come from each other’s past:he the Marine friend of Her late husband, who mysteriously died. Hmmm lot of says that can go, but I was impressed by the inventive mind if Justin Sloan!

I’ve read his KGU series (both) & have him on my the lists. But this book was fantastic. The downside? Now I have to wait until he writes the rest of this series!

There are so many cool places this series with such strong, well done characters can go that I am sure a triple trilogy won’t be enough for me! Great job!

My primary complaint with this book is that the blurb states that “a super soldier teams up with a hacker” but the book then proceeds to go through more than half the book with only a couple of crossover scenes between what’s otherwise two completely separate narratives. Presumably future books will involve more of the “team up” aspect, but as someone who picked up this book because I thought it was going to be a two-hander, I was a little disappointed to find out that it’s just two separate storylines running that sometimes intersect.

The other issue I had with the book was that while the scenes with super soldier Stealth held my interest and I enjoyed reading them, the hacker chapters with Alice were ones that I found incredibly dull and ended up skimming at times. Ultimately, I gave the book three stars because I liked about half of it, despite its flaws.

I was excited to read this book because I enjoy the genre and the premise sounded interesting. Unfortunately, I found in reading this book that it wasn’t quite what was advertised. It’s also interesting that the blurb on Amazon is nothing like the blurb on Goodreads, which is much more accurate and might have led to more enjoyment of the book had my expectations based on the ad copy been more accurate.

Firmly in the Sci-fi realm, in a space station with private corporation security creating super soldier’s to eventually take over earths governments, with one tech expert desperate to get to the bottom of what happened to her husband who had signed up to become one of those soldiers. Get ready for a great ride!

Project Destiny is the first book in the Biotech Wars series. This can be read as a standalone. There is violence. The author introduces us to an interesting plot line and cast of characters. As usual he has written an exciting SciFi book.

A great start to a series. Mystery, deception, betrayal, action, and humor. This book has it all and also has the benefit of being well written. The world building, can you call it that when it’s a space station??, anyway yes the world building is incredible. The characters interesting. The plot twists unexpected. What more can you want out of a book? Oh, yeah, throw in a happy reunion a year in the making. I am looking forward to reading book 2.
