I stumbled across the Gabriel Hawke series while searching for something to read and I am so glad that I did! I will be following this series and its author Paty Jager from this day forward. Western Oregon is a beautiful and wild place that Paty brings alive in her books. Her descriptions of the landscape and her characters transport me to that very wild area of our beautiful country. Patys writing makes this Rhode Islander want to return to western Oregon and spend more time exploring the small towns and the mountains. The writing is as straight forward and engaging as her characters and the storylines of the three Gabriel Hawke novels I have read to date do not disappoint. She kept me guessing until the very end! Thank you Paty Jager for many hours of entertainment.

Another great story by Paty Jager! Gabriel Hawke has his hands full trying to solve murders but making certain the game animals hunted are legal…
I love this series as I find Hawke to be an interesting character with his animals Dog, Horse, and Jack… The people who live and work in the close knit community add color to the tale. These are people we know! They aren’t perfect, but that is exactly what makes them so endearing in the story. Even little Kitree is considered important to Hawke! Is he becoming a little softer around the edges?
The murders are not straight forward – you are guessing until the end! It’s what makes reading the story so much fun!
Another bonus is that we are given glimpses into Native American culture along the way. I find this to be very enlightening and enjoyable. The author does a wonderful job of weaving a story together so that you are indeed lost in Hawke’s world.
I love the author’s work and this series – ans I am anxiously awaiting the NEXT one! While I was given an ARC – and I am freely expressing my opinion here – I bought a copy to support the author! Yes, the story is THAT good! I know I don’t say too much about the story because t is so much better to enjoy to read it yourself!

Audiobook Rattlesnake Brother (Gabriel Hawke #3) by Paty Jager
As always Paty Jager gives us another great story with the Rattlesnake Brother, in the Gabriel Hawke series. As with all Patys books they get you right from the start. Hawkes strong since of right and wrong is what drives him to get to the bottom of the crime. With all the twist and turns as the clues come to light make the story very interesting to read and follow along with.
I enjoy learning more about the man, about his life. His love for his Mother, his animals, Dog, Jack and Horse and the land and lets not forget Kitree, that little girl has his heart also. I enjoy the relationship Hawke has with his landlords. The friendship with Justine and the growing feeling he has for Dani. Im looking forward to a long series of books with Gabriel Hawke.

Audio Rattlesnake Brother (Gabriel Hawke #3) narrated by Larry Gorman
Each book in this series brings you back to an almost family visit. Trooper Hawke is the main character. He is intense as an investigator but the author is skilled at sharing Hawke’s real side.
Path Jager also has a neat technique of giving in site on as to what the character is thinking when he or she says something.
I read these books in the evening and usually over many evenings. The characters are carried from book to book and become very familiar. The total number of characters in a book is kept to a manageable number, so reading over many nights is not a problem.

I read all three books in this series now. The first was good, the second excellent but the third, tedious. Too many names to follow, boring story, no substance to the book. There was very little real action. Just people running around from place to place. No tracking skills shown by Hawke and very little mention of Native American ways. The hero could have been anybody. I slogged through to the end just to say I finished. Hope her next book is better, but I’m not sure I will buy it.
