After the events of Blood Heir, Morganya is empress of Cyrilia, and Anastacya is trying to survive. Anastacya is part of the former royal family, and she is determined to reclaim the throne. The second installment of the Blood Heir Trilogy is here, and I thought it had some really great moments! The broken system and social conflict between Affinites and non-Affinites continues unabated as Anastacya seeks to reclaim what she feels is hers. She and Ramson are always great together, and it was much better with them reunited after the first part of the story. Bregon was an interesting new land to explore, and all of the primary characters undergo hardship before the climax. The ending is definitely a bit of a cliffhanger leading into the third book, as Anastacya, Ramson, and Linn all have important priorities before the next leg of their journey. I liked seeing Anastacya and Ramson become closer, and it’ll be interesting to see where Amlie Wen Zhao takes them going forward. Red Tigress is an exciting, magical bridge of daring and adventure that is sure to thrill fans of Blood Heir, who I recommend it to.

A super amazing read! Loved what I didn’t get, though. I rated this book “Five Gorgeous Stars” as a part of the trilogy. I do expect the finale to give me an ending of a Dream-Like Fantasy ~ thus ~ “Five Paying-Forward Stars”. My prediction of what will happen at the conclusion of the trilogy is all bad. At the end of an all out War~the monarchy will fall & the people will rule! But the high casualties couple with all the suffering and misery aftermath, would allow no winners!

Is it possible for Ana to change? I don’t see that happen. Is it possible for Ramson & Ana to end up meeting each other at the middle and being together in the end? Not likely. Political wars ~ even in a Fantasy trilogy ~ won’t produce a happy ending.

I dare the author to prove me wrong! I’m positive that she will do just that! Therefore, with this vote of extreme confidence, I yield “Five My-Kind-Of-Fantasy Stars!”

This book was everything I wanted it to be… right until the last five chapters…
The characters are amazing, the political intrigue is great, at one of the surprising revelations I even got goose bumps!
BUT…
I am NOT OKAY with how things ended with Ana and Ramson. That was just mean!! I had a scowl on my face for a good couple hours after reading the ending…
NOW begins the torture of waiting for the third book to see if things turn around for the better…

Omg buy it already. Zhao is a new insta-buy author for me. This sequel was so amazing, and the growth from Ana, Ramson, and Linn alone is stellar. I can’t believe I have to wait another year for the third book! It’s so good.

Wonderful young adult book, I bought it for my daughter who is 12 years old and he loves the story.
