Reed (Cold Fury Hockey #10)

This book was very disappointing. With the exception of the book Hawke, I have loved the Cold Fury books. This one is different in that we barely know the personality of Reed. He’s not that appealing at first (manwhore) but he does get better. He’s funny and spontaneous. But we just don’t know much about him. We don’t know much about Josie even though some of the story happens at her job. It seems like Aiden (ex bf of Josie) will be an anti-hero, but he ends up being nothing interesting, too. There were quite a few sex scenes but they weren’t there to augment the story; they were the bulk of it. There is no hockey in this book. Other Cold Fury players are not around except Marek. At one point, Josie starts a friendship with another player’s wife, but that is never mentioned a second time. Why was it even in there?

Reed’s doubts over his relationship seem out of character (what little we know) because up until that point, he has been open and honest with Josie. And then the ending. It was so sudden and abrupt I was literally shocked! I thought to myself, “You’re kidding!? That’s how it ended??” And now we also have the set-up for Marek’s story, and he seems like a total jerk. Disappointing.

Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury Series is one of my favorites and Reed was a fantastic addition. While this book can be read as a standalone, I think reading the series in order makes it more well rounded.

The season is freshly over and Reed Olson is ready to celebrate. Not only will there be plenty of parties, he knows there will also be plenty of women just like he likes them. Reed definitely has a type and he’s ready to party with them all. So ready in fact that his bed frame and his wall are getting quite the workout, which leads to him meeting his new next door neighbor when she pays him a visit.

All Josie Ives wants is some sleep. After her long shifts in the ER at the hospital, she just wants to get some rest while she can. Instead she’s listening to the incessant banging of the headboard on the wall in the apartment adjacent to hers. Josie goes and pays her neighbor a visit and she gets a lot more than she bargained for when she meets the carefree hockey player who resides there.

As Josie and Reed settle into an unlikely friendship, they begin to spend time together and they realize that maybe there is something to the old adage of “friends with benefits.” Will this unlikely duo be able to make something last long term or will things from the past come up and cause problems?

This book was full of heart, off the charts chemistry, humor and emotion. There were times I was laughing out loud and other times I felt extremely emotional for the characters. Sawyer Bennett has a knack for balancing these emotions so well and in the end gives us a well rounded, absolutely beyond enjoyable story! The other thing I can say is that I am very intrigued and ready for Marek’s book! It should be a good one!

I love this book not because it will become a great classic but because it is a nice love story about Reed and Josie, two very nice and likeable characters. There isn’t a lot of past heart wrenching issues they are trying to overcome nor are either of them going through a traumatic experience. This story is about two people who are happy in their professions but a little lonely even if they don’t know it until they meet each other. Josie moves in next door to Reed and that is how they meet. They start out as friends and then become friends with benefits. Things are moving along great and who appears at her door…her ex-boyfriend. It is such a good story because this is real life. Not everyone has serious issues in their past that they are running away from. I think that is why I like this book so much and found it to be now one of my favorite in the series. Both Reed and Josie are like real people you could meet on any given day. In this book the author introduces Marek who will be the main character in the next book in the series. Looking forward to reading it. I would give this book more stars if possible and highly recommend it.

Sawyer Bennett Cold Fury Series Just seems to get better with each player. I can not believe we are at book ten and hopefully there is no end in sight.
Reed Olson is one of the players for the Fury he also is a player with a revolving door of Barbies but one night becomes to much for his neighbor Josie Ives.
Josie Ives is a Emergency Room Doctor But she also is Reeds neighbor who has had put up with all the noise. Putting her foot down she seems to catch the eye of Reed and well lets just say friendship develops from there.
Reed & Josie easy going relationship is actually so nice to see what starts as friends becomes more and you cant help love watching how it all unfolds. There will be some insecurities from them both but if they can overcome them it can be a fantastic start of a wonderful relationship.
With each and every book in this series you cant help saying he is my new favorite player. But when it comes to Reed & Josie you will definitely say that about this great couple.

I am a Carolina Cold Fury addict and I cannot see me recovering any time soon. Nor do I want to. I devour every book in this series, some I prefer to others but I have enjoyed every single one.
Reed Olsen is one of the good guys. He’s a hot hockey player who loves pretty girls and no strings sex. He usually opts for the ‘Barbie’ type until a pretty, sassy, smart & dry humoured ER Doctor moves in next door. She isn’t interested in his money and pro Hockey athlete status. But she does like hanging with him and being friends. And soon they’re friend’s with some seriously HOT and heavy benefits.

I liked how Reed had to do the pursuing and I loved Josie’s backbone but we still see her vulnerability.

Sweet story with excellent secondary characters.

Cheating? No (She has an awful kiss with her ex but it works within the plot and it proved a point)

Finally, just saying, OMG…..I NEED MAREK”S BOOK NOW!!!!!
