After consuming the first two books in this trilogy, I actually argued with myself, and finally FORCED myself to read RISING QUEEN. You see…I didn\’t want the adventure to end. But, I\’m glad I started reading it at 9 a.m. this morning, because by 12 noon, I was finished and WHAT?!? I need more Aenor, more Salem, and yes, even more Lyr! And Ossian? Don\’t underestimate the power of a loyal friend. I laughed out loud, I cursed, hell, I even cried a little (the folks in the doctor\’s office waiting room probably thought I was insane – or bipolar), because this story was one of those rollercoaster rides of a lifetime. I don\’t know when (or IF I\’ll read another story like this one). C. N. Crawford has done it again. She\’s woven a tale of action, adventure, romance, and sometimes the right amount of snark. Her characters are loveable (or hateable in Lyr\’s instance) and I look forward to reading many more books by this author!

Full disclosure, CN Crawford is one of my favorite authors. Her work touches me on levels that I associate with other great writers; CS Lewis, Tolkien, Rowling to name a few. Her work is always entertaining. It\’s always creatively, historically, archaelogocically interesting. And for me, as with the writers I associate her with, it is always more than what it seems to be on its face. That is true in Rising Queen, the finale to the Court of the Sea Fae trilogy. First, as with all of Crawford\’s work, it is beautifully written. She is a wordsmith. I noted that in this book she uses many of my favorite words. Lanquid. Insouciance. Whirled. Her command and usage of language conveys the innermost motivations and nuance of her characters. Rising Queen brings Aenor and Salem to their ultimate destiny\’s. Aenor has grown from the scrappy guttersnip who shot a demigod full of lead (Dark King) to the precipice of her regaining her own kingdom. Salem, such a deep and deliciously dark character (see Lucifer) is more than the ultimate evil he proclaims to be. Their journey brings them to their penultimate destinies. And the question asked is; is this all there is. Are we more than what we\’ve come to believe we are, what we accept as our lot in life. Can we change breeding, history, mythology, destiny, to be who we truly desire to be? Are we only defined by those we love and the love we\’ve lost? Is Aenor only the child of some crackpot parents, fated to the same outcome of insanity and destruction? Is Salem destined to devour and destroy, to betray? Is he capable of love and the sacrifice required in all true love? This is what we discover within Rising Queen. Reading the trilogy (Dark King, Fallen King and Rising Queen) as a whole is a must to truly appreciate the story. Not one of these books is a stand alone. Take the time to truly enjoy the workmanship, the beauty of Crawford\’s beautiful writing. You\’ll be richly rewarded.

Audiobook Rising Queen (Court of the Sea Fae #3) by C.N. Crawford
I stumbled upon the first book of this series through my Prime reading membership and wanted to give it a try. I found it pretty fascinating and wanted to know how the trilogy ended. I have to say it was quite disappointing. A lot of things absolutely didn\’t make any sense to me. But instead of pointing out every little thing I didn\’t like, I should just say that it\’s probably not for me. I didn\’t read any other book by the author so I don\’t have anything else to compare this trilogy with. But I probably wouldn\’t want to waste time in reading these fantasy romance stories.

Audio Rising Queen (Court of the Sea Fae #3) narrated by Justine Eyre
This incredible third installment has all the fantastic emotion, steamy dialogue and fascinating character dynamics. I also found that the emotionally damaged bad-boy Salem has so many more layers then I anticipated. I loved learning more about his fall and his complicated denials of personal feelings. Truly epic love between Salem and Aenor reading this complicated dark tale was fascinating and gripping. As you may know from past reviews this is one of my favorite authors and this series is one of C.N. Crawford\’s best efforts. The depth of emotion and complexity within the storyline was so intense I couldn\’t stop reading it. I laughed, I cried… I maybe considered throwing my Kindle it was sooo good. This book answered so many questions about multiple characters most especially Salem and Aenor\’s. It was a whirlwind of action and twisting anxiety as the characters learned to find trusting each other was the only way and how haunting a fated love can be. I felt joy and heartbreak as I read each chapter so engrossed I stayed up all night and well looked like it at work. But people it was worth every lost moment of sleep. THIS IS A MUST READ BOOK!!! This seriesis a trilogy but Iwould definitely read more! I can\’t recommend it enough. I recieved this book as an ARC for an honest review. Bit I have also purchased it and I am anxiously waiting for the audible version.

A good read during the pandemic stay at home. I usually read most of my books while on the treadmill but this one went beyond that as I couldn\’t put it down and read it way into the night. C.N. Crawford did a great job in storytelling on this trilogy, which has become my preference due to the never ending series by other authors waiting for the next book to come out in a year or two+ that has become tedious for me, forgetting what the last the last book in the series was about, that makes trilogies perfect . All the characters were great, Salem was fun and desirable while Aenor\’s was a tough cookie. Their story, past history and how it all ended was very well done. I didn\’t get why Gina was even written in the book at first but she had her purpose on the last book. All that said my favorite and the most interesting character out of the series was Lyr, everything about him, especially his seriousness, getting the job done while withholding his emotions, a man who seems hard to get in the romance department a real challenge for any woman. I hope the authors write a book about him, he deserves his own trilogy and would like to read about his mysteriousness, finding his own happiness.
