Rules of Payne (Cake Love #1)

I couldn’t even finish this book, it wasn’t even worth skimming, it was a disgrace and I’m so offended this was even brought to light. The main character Morgana is trashy, inappropriate, and overall disgusting in her mannerisms. The best friend Aria is just nasty she has an obsession with watching adult films with her friends even going as far as supplying drinks so she can snuggle up close to watch them together, who even thinks of creating a character like that??? If that’s not enough Aria has no issues blurting out her so called friend’s super-private-extremely intimate secrets to Morgana’s coworker whom walked up to them 2 seconds before; she just blurts everything to her without going so far as exchanging names first. There’s supposed to be some kind of humor to this ‘book’ that was either missing all together or just so horrible it went unnoticed. What was abundantly obvious was the numerous attempts at creating drama that never went anywhere; such as Morgana’s ex posting a hidden intimate tape of them to an adult website that her skeezy friend of course finds and not even a phone call is made to that jerk or an angry word/thought reaction. She just closed the lid on the laptop and that was it… huh!?! Who in their right mind let’s something like that go? I don’t care if it’s a fictional character or not there should at least be an emotional if not legal reaction to something like that. If it wasn’t clear by now I HATE this garbage and I’m convinced those glowing raves are false. If you can some how navigate through the horrible characters, a storyline so full of holes that it rivals a slice of Swiss cheese, major editing flaws, etc then be my guest. If you need more substance and a story where the art of writing is taken seriously then look elsewhere.

Morgana has an appointment to meet with Henrik Payne for a job as his assistance. His friends asked him where the new assistant was at the moment. Morgana and Henrik went into the office and she knew it probably be her down fall. After a brief moment together Henrik stands up and walks out of the room and the proceeds to tell her to remember she was his assistant and be at her desk on Monday. Being with Evaleen and Aria on our weekly meeting together I see Hendrix and he is with a women. He turns and walks over to say hi and then his girlfriend walks over. Henrik and Morgana get caught in the office again and there was no way out so she quit. Henrik then proceeded to lie to the higher ups but they knew it and fired him. Morgana spots Henrik walking down the street with a women holding on his arm. She tried to get away but he saw her and came to chat. As they were speaking and Henrik thought he was making headway when Zooey interrupted them. Morgana took the time to tell him goodbye even though he wanted to continue the talk later. Zooey tell him that they had an investors meeting in the morning with Jacob at his old company. Twist,turns and cake.

This is a romance between Morgana and her boss, Henrik. She’s an up and coming, want-to-be executive and he’s her first step to getting there. There are so many mix-ups and misunderstandings and I’m not into relationships and you’re an a$$ and whatever that it just became boring. And then there’s the conversations the characters have with nonhuman objects-head, heart, mouth, pillow. It was rather boring since it was usually the same conversation over and over again. It was just too much, too much! Don’t think I can recommend it.

I was looking forward to a fun romance according to the reviews! I’m sorry I purchased this book.
Romance should not mean foul… This story quickly became raunchy. Not for me. Won’t be reading any more of her books!

If this is cake love then I’m switching to cookies! Was this a homework assignment? You know, the ones where you’re required to have a specific number of words? That’s the only reason I could imagine the reason this book went on…..and on……and on! How many times are they going to walk away from each other? And the additional characters felt like `oh no teacher said I must have 7 additional characters, I gotta put them in! Kept putting it away and reading another one in between. Hard I waisted my time.
